Working at MAS
Hi. I'm rather concerned if it would be possible for someone working at MAS to transit to the private sector. I heard that the special set of skills one picked up at MAS won't be transferable to private sector like banks.

Bumpz. Have been reading up the different job scopes on MAS website. I don't really know if it would be possible to transit out to private sector. The area of work seems so niche.

My bank's compliance officer was formerly from MAS so its quite possible to join banks after that.

Yea. I guess compliance might be the only department that offers possible route out to private banks etc.

It seems to me like many ppl are rushing to join probably because of the high starting salary. However, I have the thinking that it might be difficult to transit out in the future. So, if you are an individual who wanna lead a stable life and perhaps getting married soon, then it won't be a bad idea after all.

It's not hard to transit out. Banks are always on the lookout for compliance officers who have experience working in MAS. They are in very HIGH demand. I know of banks willing to wait 3 months just for someone who had worked in MAS before.

Great! Thanks a good info from your side. How about other areas like financial supervision?

Hi. How likely is it for an individual to convert from an intern to a full time staff at MAS. Seems like the selection process for interns and graduate officers are the same.
