Default withholding salary history to prospective employer

Has anyone had experience withholding your past salary history with your prospective employer before? Reason being that most employers will just form a heuristic judgement on how much you are worth (maybe 10-20% more from your current drawn) or worse, won't even offer you anything more after knowing that you recently got an increment.

But current salary drawn is a field that always appears in any job application and I was just wondering if anyone has firmly refused to divulge it in a prospective interview based on the fact that honestly, it has no bearings or whatsoever on your future salary.

Default Not gd idea

I haven't tried that before. But in my opinion, it will just work against you cause it gives a negative impression to your employer who may think that you have something to hide. and there are always plenty of other candidates to choose from. UNLESS you are highly skilled in a niche field, with outstanding academic achievements. Then employers will still take you regardless of whether you tell them your last drawn or not, because they recognise their competitors will take you any time.

Current salary will always determine future salary. What you think should be the correct way to set salary is irrelevant.
