IT industry pay is always not bad. Been in IT for many years. In networking field.
Actually Locals are better in networking. Not FTs. Very few FTs are good. But locals prefer family life so its hard to progress too very far. To progress far like in management role, you need to travel like hell. So its either money or family. Thats why many ang mos held high position because they dont mind traveling or stationed in foreign land. Anyway thats their culture.
For locals, divorce already lo. if not confirm not close to spouse.
Want to earn alot..be a scholar and join gov.. like minister...confirm high pay or MP.

The problem with many local IT people is not about travelling. Its the fact that many of them find non-IT things like dealing with subordinates, playing politics, networking with business, making boss happy etc. beneath their stature and simply refuse to take part in it. They think that just by being hardworking and technically sound in their knowledge will help them.
End result is many FT who are more multi-faceted and do all those softer side things end up promoted and become the manager of the locals even though their IT skills are way below the locals. These FT managers then boot out the locals and hire their nationalities while the locals end up kpkb about how come their technical skill so zhai still end up outsmarted by FT.
I have many friends doing IT facing the same predicament. I explain the problem to them and urge them to work on these non-IT areas to out manuvere the FTs, most will just go on hyper defensive mode and tell me how great their IT skills are and simply refuse to adapt to the environment.
