Since you're a rich, single millionaire with no worries, you can afford to take it easy. If you spend $1k pm (highly possible for a single), you will need only $12k pa. Your $600k can last you 50 years. You don't really need a job to survive. Anyway, how much pa are you expecting? $200k pa?

Do you pay your own bills? Or your parents still helping you to pay? Property tax, insurance, utilities, telco bills. Not much left out of your "generous" 1k pm which you think is "highly possible". No one wants to retire with such a tough life, having to scrimp and save on every meal. 3 meals a day x $4 (extremely conservative) x 30 = $360. Is this retirement or just waiting to die?

Its hard to prosper in the IT field these days with the number of FTs around. Hell, just hoping my local boss who is going to leave isn't going to be replaced by some FT who wants more of his own kind around.

I hv stopped work for some mths already.
While the money was decent, I did not regret leaving as I didn't like the politics.
No progress on job search so far. I hv abt 10 yrs of experience.
It's not a good feeling to see the savings dwindling and I have a family to care for.
Recently I just found out i was pregnant, does it mean
1) it's as good as i should stop the job search since companies are unlikely to hire pregnant ladies?
If I really stop working, it means I would resume job hunting after delivery and by then, I would be out of the wirforce for more than a year.
2) Continue to look for jobs but should I disclose to them abt the pregnancy?
Thanks.

Hi,
Can understand your anxiety. I just left my job 2 weeks ago. Retrenchment. Hard to swallow the pain but life got to go on. May I know how old are u and is your hubby able to sustain for this while until you have delivered the baby. Sorry to say but employers are not very pro family as compared to what our gahmen proposed.
Never leave a job without one on hand unless you are asked to go like me especially with a family and coming to be baby. Savings can move down faster than what your heart can take.
Can u do some temp assignment for 3 to 6 months just to have some income coming in?

Don't worry too much. Be positive.
There are many jobs out there but you can't be fussy.
We need lots of nurses since we have an ageing population.
Retrain to become a nurse.

Hi,
2 years ago, I tried to find a job when I was pregnant and I didn't manage to find at all.
1) it's as good as i should stop the job search since companies are unlikely to hire pregnant ladies?
Ans:Yes. It is very unlikely that they will hire pregnant ladies. They are also not willing to wait till you give birth.
If I really stop working, it means I would resume job hunting after delivery and by then, I would be out of the wirforce for more than a year.
Ans: I was technically out of job for 9 months.. I didn't find that the gap was a hindrance in my search for a job.
2) Continue to look for jobs but should I disclose to them abt the pregnancy?
Ans:Yes,you should disclose to them about the pregnancy.
But it really really sucks to go about with a big belly and going for interviews..
