Luckily I did setup a side ecommerce side biz while working full time for the past few years so my income did not drop to 0 straight away.i am now also helping others to setup a similar side business generating maybe 1k/mth or more with 2hrs -3hrs a day spent. Do drop me an email at <deleted by admin> if you are keen to find out more. If you cannot find a job out there, maybe creating a job for yourself may be the next viable option. Thank you
and so your point being is what

Beware of companies that keep advertising. I have seen same companies putting up advertisement every now and then. If they can't seem to keep their employees, something is wrong.

Quit without a job in Dec 2017 . Mid 40s.

Was in a sales job and could not meet target. During performance review, boss hinted that I should leave. Call it mid life crisis, but decided to quit before getting fired. On Hindsight , I should have waited till they sack me. Was with the same company for over 20 years. Been looking for a job for the past 6 months. No response for interviews. Feel that it is difficult to go back to the same industry again...

In the meantime, registered a small online business as self employed. Income is erratic but at least better than no income. If push comes to shove, will just concentrate on the small business and hope it will grow. In the meantime, getting cash by 'downsizing'. Sold car , sold watches and other items that are deem as wants not needs. Learnt to be contended and spend within my means. Tough in the beginning due to pride, but am much more contended now living within my means rather than keep chasing for unnecessary material needs.

Here’s my story..for sharing

Graduated from NTU in 2006, took me 4mths to land a job with a semico fab. Was with that company for 3mths,resigned and joined a GLC in heavy industries sector for 7months. Resigned again and join an MNC for 3mths, this company sent me for 2 weeks overseas stint but the job sux(they close its operations a year after I left). Then i joined a local GLC for 3years,1.5years being overseas (This GLC is famous in recent years). I was facing relationshop stress & was hurt badly,I resigned and joined an electronics manufacturing company which closed down Singapore ops 1.5years after I joined. After that I joined a US MNC, it was brilliant. great collegues,i had a promotion, reasonable salary & bonuses,my customers love me,i had great record & i worked hard. But a jealous boss decided to let me go after almost 4years of hardwork put in! I was very angry.

Luckily,I managed to find a job within 2months. A local SME. It sux big time! A year with them I resigned and joined another MNC. This local SME right now struggling with business challenges. I didn’t resign without a job, I got a job with another MNC but 1year later, they let me go again. This MNC has met business challenges for ages.

So,I do not know what da h*** is wrong with the “experienced” senior management who dun seem to keep up with industry challenges but instead, blames the industry situations for their failure.

Count it. I had been in 8 companies throughout my 12years of working life. I am right now jobless for 2 months. Had sent hundreds of applications, had received a number of interview invites and I am still waiting for 1 great offer that can bring me to the top. I felt like giving up sometimes.sometimes i cried because I was helpless. its not so easy to just proclaim “i want a simple life”. life simply sux...but we have to soldier on...

Care to share what online business is it? Would like to try as well. Same like you I'm in mid 40s and getting a job is harder than anyone can imagine.

indeed tough... received an email for asking me to attend an interview for a "well known for the wrong reason big local company".. Did not even bother to call. Just sent the interview email without attaching the application form for me to fill in.

After I highlighted the omission, they then resent the app form to me..

2 weeks after the interview, there was no update.

I tried calling the HR a few times but phone never pick up. Not sure if its purposely or what.

Emailed them for update and no reply as well.

No wonder the company is famous for the wrong reason...

Damn substandard way of doing things from the way I see it..

I am in my late 20s with a local degree and am wondering if i should be joining the military as a career for good.

Looking at the future economy outlook, it certainly might be one of the potential choices.
