I have been to several interviews. some reasons i gave are:

"i am currently taking a break and not actively looking until few weeks ago started going for interviews."

" i am helping my dad doing his sub-contracting work and not actively looking until LAST MONTH"

"I am teaching primary 1 to 3 tuition classes this period. pondering what to pursue on the side "

" I went overseas for 3 months, came back then decide to teach tuition"

"I have not been able to secure employment in private sector, However I receive many permanent offers from civil service but I am not keen in serving the country."

Let's update one another if whoever has found a job. Let's encourage one another! Don't give up! Press on!

my advice is not to bs and tell the truth. many companies has background check before the employment.

I agree, especially ministries and stat boards. But sometimes telling the truth would result in discrimination from employers. They may say things like "woah so long still can't find jobs ah."

Ladies and gentlemen,

Pls do not despair.
I quit before back in 2009 without a job due to politics and my health affected.
I took up tuition, and managed to earn 2-3k per mth.

I was lucky. My buddy found me too free, n told me to try for a contract role at her place.

But there was still a gap of 3mths. Thank god I was doing some business during that time n I used that as excuse to justify.

Nonetheless, if u r not freshie, probably you might wish to consider joining the education field? Be a lecturer. Hourly rate is at least 100.

Anyone tried prayer or divination lot regarding job search when applying many jobs yet unsuccessful?

How long have u been jobless for? I have been jobless for close to 5 months. :(
