Wow! Your family income is $240k pa. That is considered high among Singapore households and your hubby earns quite well too. I thought he was earning like $20k pa.

My family income is only $160k pa. We sold our flat in 2006 and upgraded to a condo. We bought the condo at $500k and now it is worth $1.2m. We still have outstanding mortgage of $200k. We are contented.

There are quite a few years he earned around 20k too and he has been jobless since the beginning of this year. Quite tired of working and supporting the family as I have been doing that since we got married while he only gives me allowance of about 800 if he has a job but he pays his 50% share of the properties we own. That is why I am looking for a way out hoping to retire early in JB as it can be quite a burn out and mental strain.

Your hubby can drive a taxi if you and him do not mind. Nowadays taxi driver who are hard working can earn about $5,000 per month (after all expenses). Just need to work hard.

He minds...his dad was a cab driver...and also I would rather he be a house husband too...
Though I think cab drivers do make a decent living..my neighbour who rebuilt his terrace into 3 stories and whose family lives with tenants, drives a cab.

As a house husband, does your hubby do the house chores, wash the clothes, hang and iron the clothes, wash the toilet, mop the floor, go to market, cook meals, send and fetch kids, teach the kids, etc?

Why do you not mind him being a house husband? Why don't you like him drive a cab?

Does your parents mind that he is a house huband?

Actually, we have a maid most of the time and he does not do all that as he does not want to be a house husband. He spends most of his time surfing, sending out resumes, going for interviews, looking after the kids but mostly it seems to me, he has a good life though he says it is a 'torture'.

Actually, I do not really mind him driving a cab ...was just trying to persuade him as I can then give up my car which is a burden to me. But he says it is a waste of his degree.

He will prob continue his cycle of landing sales manager jobs for a few months then losing it cause he cannot meet the sales target. Been like that for many years.

I really hope to get the state consent for the JB house and hopefully can retire there in 7 years time when RTS is hopefully up and linked to Thomson line then I can travel here with my kids for school and maybe work a bit in the morning while waiting for them. And can buy a cheap malaysian car and give up the ridiculously expensive Sg car. Have until then to clear as much of our mortgage as possible...hopefully passive rental income will be stable with our population growth.

He has a good life indeed! I think you should give him two choices - take over the job of the maid (and stop having a maid) or drive a cab.

Usually I look for
Business profile
Can I check if the business was formally named something else ( and Google that for fraud etc)
From there you can find
- Shareholder details, other companies or Shareholders NRIC/House address.
- Director details, NRIC / House address etc

Plus can find the other business partners and check them as well

People Profile
Using his IC I can pull out details of other companies the person has vested interest in and search on those too.
Bankruptcy check included

Extracts
For bigger firms I will use this and extract out their accounts, however mostly not audited these days so its limited impact. Just gives you of its structure.

SLA (Singapore Land Authority)
Using house address I can buy information from SLA to confirm if he owns the house or renting etc. Same goes for his business address.

I have to admit Singapore information system is soo documented its scary, I'm concerned who searches my background and companies too lol.

However its the cheapest and easiest background check one can perform.

I got some other bits I look for too, but its hard to write it down unless I actually have something in mind to look for.
Thanks for the tips!

Pleasure, I picked up these tricks myself in a part time job be good to share.

IRAS systems are interesting / scary, I only saw my own profile during a kopi session. With an IC no they can literally locate all your assets in SG.

As they say don't mess with IRAS.

Good luck with the job hunt peeps.

Default Jobless for 3 month

hi, i been jobless for close to 3 month now i going crazy already. im a diploma in engineering informatic but that was 10 yrs ago and i forget everything already, been in army as 3 yrs contract with extention till 2008 and been working as a second hand car salesman till jan 2014.
firstly i do not know what i want, i hate doing sales but that was one job that can earn if you don't have a degree in singapore. i love my saf days as we learn abit of this and that and teach army guys, bond was very good and no backstab etc... pay was decent and colleague is fantastic.
now that i out of job, can i ask what job should i get?
apply for dxo, spf, police warden, all got reject.
cisco is paying like 900? or 1300? i not sure but i not so sure i going that road..
i was earning 58k pa in saf and 65k pa in car sales, but things goes way down since car sales drop alot...
i know i have to start from beginning but i beg for someone to tell me which industry to go for, or a place that there is seldom backstabing, a place they give job training for a 32 year old ppl like me.. a 5day or 5 1/2day job, a job that can get above 2k.
i know i sound stupid for asking too much but i not so sure myself. can anyone advice me?
some told me to be hawker, some ask me to be construction worker, some ask me sell mlm product, i find very low potential in these few areas, yes i know some make it but its like 1 out of 1000.
i feel so useless right now.. i not sure if i did not study hard enough to go uni or i choose wrong path in my 10 yrs career.. but whats next for me? is it over for me in singapore? is it the end of the road for me?
i hope i can get some advice... pls.. guide me... what job or industry should i go for next...
