Sometimes, there will be people who torpedo job offers.
The best is not to reveal any info about potential jobs to anyone.

this kind usually the HR waiting for the top candidate to respond, once top candidate accept offer they retract yours
or sometimes the company cant make up their mind if they need this role or not
either way is good for you because it would be worse if you alrdy sit in the office and the HR come to tap your desk and ask you to pack your things immediately

Is it a common occurrence to have hiring managers express interest in hiring you, except that during the security clearance or a new development crops up, they ended up retract/rescind the offer as there's no more need for headcount?
It has happened twice to me so far. I don't think it's normal.

That's why some will not divulge any info on jobs which they have applied.

Not uncommon especially for candidates who did not declare their status truthfully.
Like those got fired but say they left the company instead. Then when do background checks these things come up and company most likely rescind offer since integrity problem

Wait till you reach 40 then talk la. Its like corporate people saying what's so difficult to open a business and do well. Try open your own business risking your own money then talk. Just like you. Age 30 talk about ageism for what? Wait till you 40 then you will see for yourself
