Took a part time degree for 4 years, lived off bursaries during that time. After that was jobless for a while then found a job in which I was retrenched after 8 months. Mostly get calls from recruiters offering random jobs which I do offer and for some reason it does not progress either. I'm starting to feel very discouraged, parents are bitter that I'm not working. Started meeting friends lesser and despise people asking me what I'm doing. I really wish I can get out of this rut.

Anyone been in my situation, can give some advise? In summary 28 year old with a general part time degree from local Uni who's jobless in 14 months and can't find a job.

please lah. jhk come here to depress salary and work like dog because of 1:3.5 and they have no commitments or family in SG. how to compete? jhk are happy with 3k pay since it will be rm10.5k after conversion. Employers love them not because of their ability but because they are cheaper.

Very clearly the problem is YOU. If they can work more and you can't find any other reasons to compete for the job then YOU are the problem. Companies pay for value. Similar to consumers. Are you going to pay more for something just because the seller tells you he have higher commitments despite selling the same thing? You tell me. Stop being an entitled brat

Totally agree. No one owes u a living. Companies in general will weigh quality against cost to get the best value. If any Tom, dick or Harry can do the same job as you, the only thing u can compete with them in is cost.

Even worse if AI can do your job better than you. Just look at the paytm layoffs.

If they only let in low level foreigners who do jobs that Singaporeans don’t want then fine. But they also let in “higher educated” foreigners inside. Questionable degree comes to mind. Remember the Ultron degree Indian working for JP Morgan? Knn study in local Uni for what. They also let those JHK inside they will be biased against singaporeans and side their own. I personally seen it myself especially if JHK is your supervisor. And Paytm layoffs is more because they are not earning money, then use AI as an excuse to instill fear in the employees to not ask for raise while working like donkeys. I hope the companies you work for work you to your bones and tossed you out when you outlive your usefulness, then we see who is entitled.
