Even though I state a very big cut in my expected salary, no employer is biting. I am considering going blue collar if this prolongs, before we open our borders. Then even blue collar jobs will be unavailable.
the traineeships are for those who grad in 2019 or 2020

fresh grad here, managed to get 4 interviews and 2 offers. I only have a pass degree. seen some of my coursemates rejected offer as 3.4k is too low for them. There is still jobs out there, just don't expect such a high starting pay. If still dreaming and expecting 4k start (alot of such people tbh), serve you right if u can't get a job.

Good on you, 3.4k is decent.

Even if they land a 4k job 6 months later, you would already be 20.4k ahead of them. They will take 34 months to catch up (using their $600 extra per mth vs ur 3.4k) with your overall earnings.

Looks like we mba grads have it hard.

Graduated from NUS MBA in 2019, tried to look for a full time role but no luck.

Ended up became an independent financial advisor to make ends meet.

And I keep wondering why it was so hard for me to look for a job since most of my foreign classmates seem to get employed with ease.

There’s no such thing as confirm got job one - every year Insead churns out 2k+ mbas. Plus there’s so many other top mbas coming into the job market.

And yes, of course I know how hard it is to get into insead - I took gmat twice and spent 2 months+ on the admission essays.

Btw, there also isn’t an “insead type”. We come from over 90+ countries and diversity is one of the key strengths of the insead brand.

Which industry and role did your friend get into, if I may ask?

its even harder after march when CB starts.

my observations during my past mth of job search:
i hate to go thro agency to let them earn commission in return by giving us a low pay. n it dosnt help when many company(even the govt organisation) goes thro agencies these days. many companies are hiring base on a salary range like a newbie range, eg $1.8k -2.2k/so people like us have to take a very slow paycut.

i oso tried looking for temp. for temp i was ok wif low pay since its temp n entry level, but yet agency asked whether i could commt much longer like 6 mths if the company wants to extend. so if you cannot commit on a longer basis, they will not take u too even if its a 3 mth temp job. i oso notice these days, instead of hiring perm staff and giving the staff a 3 mths probation period, company rather hire u as temp for 3 mths, and if want to hire u as perm, then convert u. they can save so much money!

and the temp job can be as low as $8 or even $7.5. its the same rate when i worked temp 20 yrs ago. do u think sg is in deep ****? wif cost of living higher and people earning the same pay after so many yyrs. i wory for the future generation. so i always streess the importance to save(for raining days liike now) or invest whenever u can.

Yup. Don't understand ppl who lament no jobs but when offered a job, rejected the job due to low pay. Then continue to grumble and complain over lack of jobs available.

What of value do you retain from it? Nothing. Even a car has scrap value. Even a spent mobile phone can be sold to a ah beng shop.

Also up until the early 2000s, no one felt entitled to a reward after passing their final exams. What is a grad trip? A REWARD for passing exams?! Needing a break after SCHOOL? Sounds really ridiculous, feeble, and infantile.

How about actually working hard for a decade first before needing a BREAK or a REWARD?
