Employment History
Hi All,
When we apply for a new job,
will the new company call up and check every ex-company that we listed in our resume under employment history?

It depends if your company is a SME or MNC. SME usually the hiring manager or HR will likely call and check and ask about reason for leaving etc. For government sector this is also very common, they will ask/inform u before doing that.
As for MNC, they will hire a background screening vendor to do it, and it will be likely based on overseas so they will just verify your employment history with HR or your payslip.
This is my opinion after reading alot about it.

When is the background check usually done?
Is the background check (employment history, education etc.) usually done before the candidate is given the job offer?
Or is the background check only done after the candidate has accepted the job offer?

however, have heard otherwise from others - so would think it depends on the company.

What does it take for an offer to be withdrawn following the reference checks?

False or inflated jobscope on your CV. Somehow people think its ok to put employer as JP Morgan even though they only worked for JP Morgan's vendors for e.g. Bad idea that will get you terminated.
