Interested in Position of VP (Administration) at MOE

I'm interested to apply for position of VP Admin.

Unfortnately I only have 6 years instead of 8 years of senior management experience. Total working experience comes up to about 17 years.

I am a CPA and earning S$6K at current job of senior finance & admin manager.

Has anyone applied for this job? Whats the starting salary like, the interview process, etc? Thank you in advance :)

Are you sure MOE got VP jobs? I thought they go by AD, DD, Director, SD etc.

$6K is low for a CPA with 17 years experience. Have you tried applying for financial controller positions in other companies?

I don't think you will qualify for the position. Base on your salary i think your position is more like assistant manager, they are looking for people more senior.

Sorry, you misunderstood my explanation.
Actually just got my CPA last year and have about 10 years doing finance and admin-related work. The rest of the 7 years are not related to finance work.
Thank you for replying to my thread :)

usually such 'relax' job is reserved for saf LTC & above upon retiring from service, as a second career.

Singapore's MOE's VP admin is absolutely not relaxed job. It is indeed the most demanding job you would ever found on earth! This is a superman position, demanding superior EQ and leadership to deal with laojiao teachers and lower rank worker such as cleaners, and perfect physical conditions to deal with long hour working (from 7 am to 7 pm is a norm) Weekend duties is also standard!

You will regret if you work there!

well VP is paid 16k+ if u add in everything that's nearly 290k p.a. so i dun see why long working hours is such a bad thing.

Don't you know that civil servants all want to be highly paid but demand work life balance?

I believe VPs earn much more than $6k, but $16k is more like the pay of senior principals who have been in the position for some time. Low 5 figure paychecks should be more realistic for VPs.

VP (Admin)

I read the new posts in 2016 that Singapore's MOE's VP admin is absolutely not relaxed job and one may regret if work in such a position. Please elaborate alittle on the situation mentioned, with some examples so as to have a clearer picture. Thanks.

Its not true! For the VPA in my school, her highest priority is apple polishing rather than work. She can put urgent work aside and busy herself in the pantry cooking curry, making sandwiches and so during working hours especially when the Supt (the Principal 's boss) or other bosses come. She can go out to do marketing to cook up a storm in the pantry during working hours while her staff slog like mad to clear piles and piles of work, even having to bring work home to do. All those whom she 'saka' don't see all these. They are blinded by all the food that is served to them and failed to see how can a VPA have so much time to be cooking all these things for them to eat. All these food are only served to her master but never her staff. As a VPA she is supposed to do strategic planning, resource allocation and see how to streamline processes. Instead, all these are put at the lowest priority or not even done but when comes to apple polishing to please the bosses, everything can be thrown aside.
