Need help regarding my underpay job

Im working in a insurance industry
tho my company give me a position of admin but i was asked to actually do executive duties and even sign off as 1 because i have the proper qualification.
I even have a namecard as Client Servicing Exe

i am a diploma holder, and have work in the company(SME) for close to 2 years.
now my salary after this year revision is only 2k.

I will be talking to my management regarding my salary tmr, but will need some help on how much i should really be getting.

Hope to look for some advise and guideline here...

U have 2 yrs of working exp with diploma and ur pay is $2000?
Maybe cant compare with mine.
I'm fresh diploma grad works for govn ministry earn $2000 also with zero exp.

Not bad la, compared to asst/assc "engineers" working in SME. But of course its damn sux compared to government sector, fresh grad is 2.2k for males and 2k for females.

Diploma starts off at 1.8k for pte sector on average, so your 1+ years exp at 2k is on par. What exactly is different between "executive" & "administrative" duties anyway?

Having a namecard or signing off as executive means nothing, many fresh degree grads these days are joining as Managers or AVP.

Signing off on a few silly documents doesn't make you an "executive"... it makes you a scapegoat if things go wrong cos you were the one who signed off on it...

And you can print whatever you like on your namecard thesedays... You can title yourself as CEO.. nobody will really give a damn really... What matters is how much you earn...

you have to slide back to reality.. with just a lousy diploma.. how to even consider yourself a executive?? Somemore in doing general admin, there is unlikely any chance of making it big... Advise you to go upgrade and earn a reputable degree so you can justify a better salary for a better job elsewhere..

I can now imagine a few thousand banking VP queuing outside HR demanding they be paid at least $2.5mil since the President is making $5mil because their name card says "Vice President"

Seriously, who in this day & age ask for more $$$ with an excuse like my business card says XXX.

lets just end this with; You are only underpaid when others are willing to pay you more.

I notice in the past fresh deg grads joined as "executive", but now seems many companies are giving diploma & NITEC grads executive titles and deg grads are upgraded to "associates" or "assistant managers" or "specialist"

exactly, if you join the government aka grassroot even more power, fresh grad manager liao. But again Some industries have more inflated titles especially those that need to meet client; due to collaborative selling trend (Can you imagine a "sales person" title come and discuss with you about distribution stakes/payments).

Until they start regulating titles such as doctor or ER? Errrrr who use er anyways. everyone can put anything on their business card, just ask your friendly "chief executive barrister and office equipment manager" aka office auntie.
