Default Noone can help you

How do you define success? An indian flipping prata earn 10k a month considered succesful?

Nobody knows what you actually like to do except yourself, you have to got to find it out yourself.

Set up your own goal first. Be as specific as possible.

Someone sitting opposite me was an engineer for 3-4 years in India. Came to NUS to study his masters and is now a VP in Equities Research. Nothing beats an analyst who understands tech, loves tech and now analyses tech firms. Pretty successful fella, brought his entire family from India and owns a home in a prime location. Yesterday, he was flipping through car magazines looking to buy a 2nd family car. His kid was born in SG and just last week he was telling everyone that his son's citizenship was successful.

All this within a span of 3 years (in SG). Would count that a pretty successful switch.

You have a higher success rate of switching into banking if you are an Indian. My team in investment banking are half Indians. The boss prefer to hire FT Indians, smarter and more eloquent than local Indians. Interact better with the foreigners.

You talk about career change like deciding whether to buy apple or orange.

Seriously, what the heck is “business” sector? Its obvious you have totally no clue what you want and haven’t bothered to even do rudimentary research, you just wana get out of engineering and whacking aimlessly.

This is an attitude of a JC poly teenager, not experienced professional.

Hey guys,

if i know the answer to my questions i will not be asking here. And i will be already in other sectors than in engineering. I only know engineering well. My questions are general because i just wanna get out of engineering. Thus any jobs in the banking, finance or business sectors will suffice.
Is this a forum for discussion or some framing session?

If you guys deem its irrelevant just leave this thread alone.

That's why I told you go and find out what you like to do first. If you have no particular interest in anything, then what are you good at?

Please at least decide where you want to go, else how can we be of help?

Nobody is framing with you. Why get so sensitive?

QXP has been around in the boards for some time and from what I observe is very experience in finance sector although he tend to be straight forward at times. You will do well to heed his comment.

What he is trying to say (guessing here) is that you need to spend more time to think through what you want and have something more specific than throwing a open question that you want to go business sector.

This is the google age and saying ignorance of everything besides engineering is quite lame, at least list a few jobs you interested & explain what knowledge you have currently. No head no tail how you want ppl to advise?
