Policy and needs can differ. How else do these fch jammed packed with theory can deserve a salary of 5 years experience? (see DXO thread.) obviously there is a flawed weighting in the hiring criteria but... Public service is like that...
This is a thread related to public service hor.. Never OT...

take it with a pinch of salt too.
or maybe civil service really has little views of relevant experience. i mean, if you see that person's qualification - he has a pass degree. not flaming, but it is true that civil service put more weigh into academic outcomes.

Did my degree overseas and applied to a Stat Board. Went for 2nd interview was 3 weeks after the first interview. Interviewed and received a call 4 days later (including 2 days of weekend). Not sure if i was their top choice. Expressed interest and waiting for salary quote from HR.....

I think the person with the pass degree also knows. Must have own consideration n weighted the pros n cons and took the job. Annually 70% of graduates who were not good at studies (3:1, pass, merit) are out there working and adequately feeding their families. Pass degree are in the thousands annually... Kaplan sim mdis just to name a few.
The weighting on academic... I'll let it rest... No point stirring.
