Any way to skirt around bad ref check? Left on ok terms but hr seems to think otherwise.

Passed g50 (was informed) and medical but uturn at ref check. Happened already to 3 different ministry. So far no issue with past employment hr. Can I skip most recent hr and ask them to check with others?

what u meant by bad ref check but left prev employment on ok terms?

how far u want to hide these little stuff as SG is pretty small
with the vineyard paths, think is super easy for them to reach out to the last immed SB/Ministry u were with to find out more abt your service records

if your previous Min/SB had noted in your service docket that u r a *Beep worker, and the new side got wind of this, it also boils down to whether the new team wan to take a risk to hire

and how did u know u kena zam brake hat trick at the reference check stage?

Hello all,

I was from a public service agency. Under a 3 year contract.

My contract expired in November this year. So I went to job search. My agency wanted to renew my contract but the terms were unfavourable. Plus, my DD in that agency was horrible.

I went for an interview with Agency X in mid-August. For 1.5 months, they ghosted me. But of course, I do not put my eggs in 1 basket and continued looking. In the end, I got the offer, so my timeline looked like this:

Mid-Aug: Interview
End Sep: HR called to tell me interested to proceed
Late Oct: Approvals sought and contract/LOA sent for signing. They gave me 1 week to think about it.
End Oct: Contract signed.

Here is the thing.

Mid-Oct, I went to interview with a Ministry. Here is the timeline.

15 Oct: Interview. HR told me 1 round. And if successful, outcome will be made known within 2 weeks. During the interview, they ask me why am I looking for other jobs. I told them my contract expiring.
27 Oct: I chased HR for update, because Agency X already asked me to sign LOA. HR told me they still interviewing candidates. I told them i pending offers.
3 Nov: Ministry called me. Told me keen to proceed.
13 Nov: Ministry asked me for further docs. I told them I am in the midst of leaving my agency. Because contract expiry. Showed them proof.

They ghosted me afterwards. How ah? I am much more interested in Ministry's role, and actually for Agency X, i took it out of desperation. Should I chase them?

exactly what happen

u may feel u leave on normal-peaceful terms

however it's what they remark down in your P-file that's crucial
if they indicate -ve comments or to the effect of 'Recommend not to hire for next posting',

if it's just the recent 1 or 2 agencies that have indicated that in your P-file, GG

but if the last flash point was like donkey years ago, hiring agency may want to give it benefit of doubt

how did u exactly know that your last 3 apps buang at the reference check stages?

when u r suppose to start with Agency X?

Ministry doing background checks will also take some time especially during year end
Likely they could also find out abt u having a start-date with Agency X
then u may need to let them know why

Worse thing that can happen is buang both Ministry (at background checks phase) and Agency X (they can retract)

I went for the 1st interview on 13 Dec with a ministry, till now no news at all
Any chances going forward or should i assume as rejected?
