Strange, the G50 is the standard form for civil service and stat boards.
Either you already possess the appropriate security clearance or you are being placed in holding pattern.
The first scenario is unlikely.
The second scenario that they are waiting for the shortlisted and cleared guys reject the offer.
Then they can ask you to fill up the G50.

I'm actually from a ministry with G50 clearance for the last 10 years so I think maybe that's why no need?

Had an second interview with a stat board last Tuesday morning and they said they will take 1 to 2 weeks. It has been almost a week so if they are interested I would have already gotten a verbal offer much earlier?

I am now waiting for formal offer from an SB. Usually after formal offer, how long will it take before they issue LOA?

Currently in a Min and applied for a job in another Min. Went for interview and HR reverted in less than a week to inform that they want to proceed with the hiring. HR said will conduct reference check with my current Min HR and referee but won’t inform my direct bosses.
2 weeks later, checked with HR for update and was told they are not proceeding with the hiring due to “changes with the role”. Clarified with HR but they did not want to elaborate further if it was due my reference check and just said “changes to the role”.
The job was also relisted on the same day as I was informed that the hiring would not be proceeding. Any idea what may be the reason for not proceeding with my hiring?
