at least it's still counted as continuous service/employment in that sense, albeit different ministry/SB

I was informed by HR that I am found suitable for a position in an SB last Mon. Was told they are doing HR ref checks and getting approval before making a formal offer. How long will that usually take?

Depends on your M/SB, if your job deals with sensitive information, like some roles in MHA & MINDEF, then maybe it'll take at least 1-3 months if everything goes well. Did you submit any form for security clearance?

factor in a few things that could lengthen the time

1) reference checks --> can count as part of the g50 screening (some ministries/SB may take longer for the reference checks because of classified work nature eg MINDEF/ISD/ELD etc)

2) getting approval --> depend on the turn around time for the reference checks (as per point 1 + now Dec time with folks on leave), then SB need to table the approval to their parent ministry's DS/PS before they can formally offer u the position

caveat is that so long as no formal offer has been presented to u in writing, U-turns/retractions can still happen.
