I would just take option B.
Since you have hit the salary ceiling in your current organisation, I reckon your promotion that your RO has told you would have around the same increment as option B.
Since the promotion in your current organisation is a question mark, unless you have clear indication from your Dir that they are gonna fight for your promotion or you are doing some projects with good visibility. I suggest just change job.
If they have interviewed you and offered you, it means you would have likely qualify in terms of what they are looking for. So just do your best in the new organisation and accept option B.

b) fresh hire policy: slight increment in monthly salary and an overall 9% in total package (about 15 to 16 months package). However, No of years in civil service will not be retained.
Benefits wise slightly better in terms of quantum for medical, dental benefits and there is also flexi benefit given.
Both options require 6 mths probation followed by 3 years contract on a renewal basis.
Reason for wanting to leave coz Im stuck and hit salary ceiling already plus I wanted a change. However, I知 also hesitating as I have been in the current ministry for 8 years and my colleagues are very nice, so Im not sure if my potential new colleagues will be just as nice. Further, Im just short of 1 B for promotion and my incumbent RO told me to stay put as I知 most likely to get promoted next year and it will be a waste of my effort if I leave before getting promoted
Hence, I知 in a dilemma as I知 not sure if I should accept as the new co is willing to accept me though I知 in a totally different field and experience r only a little relevant. I知 also not sure if I can find another offer should I decide to stay and only leave after getting promoted.
At the same time, I知 worried that I will make a wrong decision by leaving now since I知 most likely due for promotion.
For advice, pls. thank you.

I am the poster above. However, please be mindful that your new job is a contract role. Are you are okay with always having to worry about contract renewal every 3 years? This is something that is more important than other factors.

between a 3-year full time (contract) vs 1-year temp
which one is lesser of the 2 evil?

Hi,
I知 the original poster. Thanks for the advice thus far. To clarify, the movement policy allows me to retain my years of civil service and full bonus in any, while for fresh hire policy, any bonus will be pro-rated. For both options, bonuses will only be credited after 6 months probation.
As for salary range, for DPM, will be lower end of $6k to lower end of $7k. Should I get promoted in my current ministry, the pay is likely to be lower or same as the fresh hire pay which I will be getting in SB. One of the reasons why I wanted to change my job is because I hope to do sth different and my current job is kinda niche and hence not easy to find one with relevant experience. This SB which offered me is the only one out of the X No of applications which I have submitted.
So even if I choose to stay on and if in the event I get promoted (which my incumbent RO say there is a very high chance), I do not foresee myself staying in the same role for very long. Having said that I知 concerned that I might not find another job that easily. However, I also concur it痴 a waste if I never stay on for that promotion since it痴 just one more year.

Are you at the ceiling of your grade or at the bar in the middle of the grade?
If you are at the ceiling of your grade and option B means joining at a higher grade, it is a promotion and I think you should take that
If your salary is at the ceiling of a bar, then you may want to take the movement policy to retain your bonus and years of service. Both organisations are gonna push you over the bar, it痴 quite easy for that to happen
If option B is still an equivalent grade and you are getting a higher pay because the SB has a different pay scheme, I recommend staying put and get your promotion first

I am currently MX11A equivalent in a specialised scheme. Promotion not in the cards for the next 3 years or so. Individual contributor role
I have an offer for a vanilla MX10 supervisory role. I値l need to take a pay cut and also lose bonus (as usual for a job change). i am not too concerned about losing the years of service as 3 additional days of leave don稚 matter too much for me
In terms of future salary, the specialised scheme 11A ceiling is only $1000 lower than the vanilla MX10, and I am nowhere near it. So I will be taking a pay cut for the next 3-5 years
But MX10 DD will be a move towards super scale and I知 not sure I値l ever get super scale at the current organisation
Getting my own office and team are also pros for the move
So strangers on this forum - do you recommend this move?

Chances of acceptance
Would like to ask what's the probability of getting a job in statboard - non-financial related post when you have bank loan? Do they give you a chance to explain the situation or is just a flat no acceptance?
