Thank alot.
Coming from private world and my age, i would prefer permanent direct.
However, the role is interesting and something i like to take on.

I think yes, ranging from 1 to 3 years.
Even those that state permanent is in fact 1~3 years initially, so I'm alittle surprise.

So this applies to all gov positions even though it’s not stated as contract in the job description?

Dear bros, my job applications were rejected after going through several rounds of interviews and I think it was actually due to my exit interview at my previous public service organisation. If there is an issue with my exit interview, I will have problems securing another job in the public Service. Can any bros share with me how to overcome this issue please. Thank you.

i don;t think there is alot of difference between the contract and perm benefits. only the time where the bonus payout where contract is based on your years of service. i think its a good choice to go for a government job

Thks for your advise!
Myself approaching mid career. As average performer in private sector, i see gov job as "iron rice bowl".
Contract contradict this thought to be honest.
However HR assure me high chance of converting to perm unless i perform very badly.

Nowadays is very common in the govt sector. Especially for covid-19 related jobs as there shouldn't be such job in the first place & the position/task group will cease when covid-19 is over.
However, one should always try to go for it even it is seemed as a short 1 yr contract as he/she can always seek for internal job opportunities when available.

The hr who offered me did not mention anything about my MX grade. Do I need to ask about it or I will only know when I sign the contract?
