I thought they may be waiting for the deadline to close and then get the shortlist for the panel interview...

Is there anyone where they waited for 1 month and then they call you up for formal interview?
I wonder why are they taking so long to process the interview?

This is the usual case. Well, they have more than one positions to process, they have many applicants for a particular position and they also have other things to do.

Actually I wanted to move on. But I decided to check with HR on the results of the interview and given a "still pending management approval" answer. This drags on for months. My heart cannot move on.

Rather than waiting, why not apply other govt agencies?

I did. If I'm shortlisted after waiting for so long, then I don't mind the wait. But if the long wait leads to a negative outcome, I rather they inform me of the negative outcome earlier. But the answer is always pending management approval.

U are right. I was not very ready to move on because that position is an ideal one for me, I am very keen on that. And I also don't understand why the company need take so long for a reply. I am sure they already have a list of shortlisted and rejected candidates so why everytime I check with them, they tell me still pending management approval, can't tell me verbally where I stand. I also told myself not to call them anymore but once a while, I relapse again.
