You did not check with the HR the whole time?

Hi, can I know if he was provided with an official offer after his clearance was cleared? Or he was given a verbal offer -> clearance (1 month) -> official offer?

Thanks!

Of course I did. But HR will reply that they are still in the midst of interviewing and no decision has been made yet. Pretty much nothing candidates can do except wait.

If I ended a peer chat session while awaiting call back for the final interview but i saw the job posting on careers@gov again means it's a goner right?

I suggest you drop them an email weekly to follow up. That's what I did for my role in PSD.

After the verbal offer, they took 4 weeks to get back the contract to me, but every week, I will make sure to drop the HR an email to follow up on the progress, and are there any next steps that they need from my side etc blah blah. Goodluck

Default Reference Checks

May I know if reference checks are done usually before or after the offer? I have recently accepted a job offer in a private company, however civil sector has just called me up to ask if I am still interested in the job which I applied for in March (which I said yes). I was asked to resubmit all the documents and filled in my current employer which was stated on the form. Just wondering if reference checks will be done before the offer, which will not reflect very well to my currently employer which I have only worked for 1-2 months?
