Does your leaving certificate matter?
Sometimes when you quit, it could be because of disagreements with bosses, and they may give a negative report regardless of what you have done for them over the years in retaliation for this and because you cannot do anything about it anymore.
Does what's written in the leaving cert affect future job applications? In fact, do employers ask for it specifically?
I don't know because I have been in 1 job my whole life.

I have never in my entire been asked for such a certificate or letter. And I did not bother to get one when I quit.

If you enter a govt job and you're previously from or worked before with govt, they will ask for the cert.
