Life Science Graduate
Hi
I would like to start a discussion on the students who had graduated from life sciences from poly or uni.
I realised there is a strong increase in competition as the technical aspects of life sciences are overriden with floods of foreigners.
This greatly places fresh graduates at disadvantages since no there is always a foreign worker out there who ask for lower pay.
Does anyone experience the same problem?

how does this information contribute to the discussion?
It neither states the salary range nor the problems encounter.

That said, we now know the government is trying to "groom" finance talents. This is a signal to avoid the finance industry!
Maybe it's better for the eighteen year olds to consider engineering or IT again!

govt sector!! lol. some schemes accept all degrees. but increment and progression as slow la. even worse than teaching i was told.
you never try routine labs? like those in pharma or O&G? i was from one.
from my understanding, usually entry level position don't have that many foreigners, except malaysians who graduated from local tertiaries.
but 3 out of 4 of the supervisors/managers in my lab were foreigners.
and just to point out something... it is not true that the people who ask for a lower pay will be the ones hired. usually for MNCs, they have a certain pay scale. so even if you ask for a lower pay than the minimum of the scale, they will still pay at least the minimum.

The question is how interested you are in science? Are you willing to further your education to a PhD?
Is the intellectual pursuit/ challenge is enough to sustain you through long but flexible hours? (I used to work around 80+hr/week)
Do you have a lot of financial commitments? Is the increment of $50++ per annum enough for you?
Can you work in an environment where, your boss hires about 90% of his/her own nationality?
These are not the least of the questions, but let me know if you want to know more. Btw, I worked in research sector for more than 7 years.. seen a little too much.
