To take up the offer or not
Recently graduated from SIM-RMIT Business Marketing.
Was offered a full time job at Tuas, Mon - Fri 8.30-5.30 with shuttle bus to and fro from nearby MRT station. But I stay all the way at Simei.. Position is secretary under 2 managers. As for salary, they are looking at 3k. I've taken part time jobs here and there, so in short I'm a fresh grad. Feeling quite vexed now. What are your views and take on this? Yes No? |
i would say too FAR distance!!!!
I would suggest you to apply job in bedok/loyang/changi north/changi south/airport region!!! |
I say take it! Try it out. Give yourself 1 year.

Anymore opinions?
I need to give my reply by tomorrow. |
too far.. im sure there are other options. dont rush into getting a job you might regret
|
I live in Pasir Ris and got offered Sembawang Shipyard.
I rejected it. The distance really does play a part. Travelling to Tuas back and forth is insane. Take your time in job search. |
Its too far already! Imagine the time you need to wake up and the time you reach back home. Dont rush into a job. However if you are really desperate for job and the search isnt going too well for you then perhaps you might want to try it out. Its takes a lot to work at a place too far.

i currently work there. you can consider my example.
i live in the central. wake up at 530am and leave home by 6am to take a 45min train ride to JE MRT at 7am to take company transport to reach work at 730am. end work at 430pm and only reach home at 6pm. total travelling time = 3 hours a day. have been there for over 4 years and it does take toil on you sp am currently job searching to leave soon. salary is fairly good though. you have to decide if the money is enough to spur you to travel so far. or if you wanna work for 2-3 years and leave after that. |
TS, place aside, where do you see yourself in 10 yrs time? a secretary position is hardly going to open doors for u when u apply for future jobs.

Times are quite bad now..
Went for another interview, located in central. Asked for $2.5 Interviewer said its too high, didn't offer the job in the end. Most of my friends, although 5 days week, relatively near to house but pay around $2.2 - $2.4, routine daily office jobs. This is really a big stake. Just that the distance is an issue.. I did mention I would like another 100-200 more to cover the transportation expenses etc. If they give the green light, it would be $3.2!! Should I... should I not..:confused::confused: |
