I don't think color blindness is not acceptable for employment in oil/gas companies as I don't see how it will affect the job. But I'm tested for color blindness though

hi there. you may hit a problem if you intend to enrol into local uni engineering courses. They do have medical checks before enrolment and there are cases where those who are color blind are not allowed to pursue some engin degree. Better check with the school first.

how is the grading like? 5 years to grade a level?
how is the working life n culture like in exxonmobil as fresh nitec Operation technican?
is it start work at the dot at 8am till 8pm non-stop beside lunch n dinner break?
how is the 1.5x & 2x OT pay given on which day of every week during my off/rest day?
when ot on rest day having 2x pay per hour, does it stop at the 8th hr and start counted 1.5x for the following 9th to 12th hour for a whole day of 12hrs OT?

Hi there, thanks for the comment. I had already check with the schools and they do allow me to enroll. I'm just more concern about the future career prospects. I dont wanna waste my time studying so hard for the degree and then have sort of a 'ceiling' in my career due to color blindness.

School is going to definitely me as a student but is the society or company gonna accept me that is another question.

i have trying to have a job at any refinery or any oil terminal. But i have been applying it since 4 years ago but no a single interview i went. Can u guys give me some advise or tips so that i can get the job i always wanted.my experience is 2 years as a supervisor at marine industry and now currently 2 years as petroleum surveyor.

Im sure you will have problems to work in the industry. Companies will not want to accept technicians who cant tell see red or green. It is a very common color used in determining stuff like danger, running or standby equipment. Color blindness especially for red and green is a potential hazard.

I have an Interview with Sembcorp Industries as Power Plant Operations Technician this week. I believe that they will still pay the same if not similar rate for basic + shift allowance, laundry, etc same like other petrochemical companies in Jurong Island?

Any guys having any idea of their salary package? Thank you!
