Your Basic Salary will be increased to S$4000 per month once you have been conferred with the
Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering Second Class Honours (Upper Division) - described above. This
increase will take effect in the month following the month you submit proof of the final results as per
paragraphs 2 and 3 above.

Management really took their time. I already brought this up to my manager after E-Pass got raised to 4.5k in 2020.

This 5k is not charity or newfound compassion, this is obviously in response to the E-Pass increase. >>>80% of the people that I get to interview are not local. (Yea, I'm interviewing people who will be earning ~1k less than me without counting CPF. Fricking wow.)

And yes, if you're a local, you might have noticed the pay offer may be lower. That's kind of government's whole point with the e-pass increase - Jobs that cannot offer higher will be forced to either hire locals, or increase the salary. Do note that 4k * 1.17 = $4,680 after CPF.

This has got to be the furthest ******** so far.
Micron is surely as competitive as hell and having it in your resume is like having a premium resume. Tge semicon industry is thriving so micron is riding this wave seemingly that's only going to rise higher with EV, IOT, telecoms etc joining the race.
But they aren't stupid. They don't pay for mediocrity.
Having 5k as a basic pay even with just 1 month bonus puts you in the top 30% of all tax paying residents in Singapore. And do you think micron is going to be that stupid to do that by putting a zero into that income bracket right away?

You know nothing about the process, you don't know how corporate comms work, you don't know your competitors, your customers, your suppliers. You don't know where your products are going. You just got good school grades. And in the corporate world, good school grades don't mean real world results.
Using only school grades on a chartered career is the mindset of singtel, ST, judging competence only by school grades. Because they are insulated by a boat, they aren't really swimming in the pool.

So, the way i see it, the one who started it all of this ******** never worked in mnc before. And judging by the response, it seems clear many can't think critically too.

To sum it up, since Singapore raised E-pass requirement, Micron raised salary for fresh grad according to the new requirement as most of their workers are non local. To the existing employees, they are thinking about it, meanwhile implementing salary compression, willing to pay their current employees close to the fresh grads.

There's nth to do with the EP. Go do a MOM EP assessment then u will know. A local u foreigner fresh grad can get EP at $3000 and the new EP requirements doesn't apply to them at all. They having a contract call Tuition Grant which require them to work in SG for 3yrs. With this contract, no matter what they do how much they earn, they will got their EP. All of my foreigner friend got EP with starting pay of 3k last yr.

Okay, you are honestly full of BS right now.

Every single company in Singapore competes for these E-passes, and they are limited and are catered towards international specialists that can’t be found in Singapore. Our universities churn out tons of engineering graduates every year, there is no way Singapore will allow E-Passes for talent that can be easily replicated here in Singapore.

Besides, if we go by your inconsistent argument now, then Micron need to offer so much remuneration for what? Got so many E-Passes and locals to choose from, might as well offer lower (or maybe graduates ask for lower salary) to boost profit margins?

Eh you seriously work in Micron until kumgong liao lah. 5K salary is nothing. You want to talk about big bucks while working in that kind of OT culture, I might as well recommend you to go investment banking. There you also no time to work life balance and spend money, but at least salary is in 5 digits as compared to that measly Micron salary 😂

Or maybe you think 5K salary is the ceiling too good for you alr ah

Also use your brain a bit leh, Micron mass hiring every month according to you, what does that tell you about the company itself? 😂

You think Micron opening one more F10A in Singapore ah, or is it everyone quitting because of poor work prospects?

not inclusive of bonuses yet, but this one depends on ur performance

don't listen to the retards in here preaching that 5k is coming in may, if you see it in black and white on written form in the contract, then you best believe it. but micron mass hiring from all the SG universities, so even if you try to nego higher, they will prob laugh at you and replace u w another.

also life not super rosy in micron lmao. working in micron and i can tell u a lot of ppl won't mind using micron as a springboard for better positions. u cannot progress well in here (favouritism by boss then can) and have fun with all work but no life in there. food also kinda sucks tbh

This idiot thinks that every foreigner in Micron is an E Pass holder and thus because Singapore has decided to increase the salary eligibility to $5K, then that means that everybody including locals and foreigners will get it as well — with competitors (UMC, STM) all paying significantly lower than the benchmark.

Come on lah, even with an overseas bachelor degree with honours (4 years), Singapore only considers you as semi-skilled and will only give you S-Pass ($2.5K salary eligibility, will be raised to $3.3K in 2025; and surprise, also got quota by Government). E Pass holders only meant for experienced and highly specialized foreigners whom we cannot replicate here in Singapore due to our limited manpower pool. Want to kumgong also must know how to speak facts 😂
