Some people here have poor reading comprehension skills. I said I'm planning to stick on till I complete 1 year at my current company. However my goal is to get a job in an MNC with better pay and benefits as stated by PP. And i do know some MNCs in singapore that pay fresh degree holders 3k+ in HR specialist positions. By the way I have a masters degree and had 2 years experience in an MNC as an inhouse recruiter before my 4 year sabbatical. BD is one of the things i'm looking at but not sure if most MNCs really value HR with BD experience, as its mostly headhunting firms that look for persons with BD skills.

Let me get this whole thing straight once again. In the earlier postings, you were asking people to advise you how to get a MNC HR job. Now you are telling us you actually have a Masters degree and already have 2 years experience working in a MNC HR as a recruiter!

How did a MNC HR inhouse recruiter end up posting on an online salary forum asking others how to get recruited into a MNC? Shouldn't you be advising others instead? And how did a MNC recruiter with a Masters degree end up doing $7/hr job in a SME? This whole thing is not adding up at all. Is there something in your past history you are not letting on here?

These are valid questions any *ahem* MNC inhouse recruiter interviewing you will also ask... Also I do not understand why all your responses must always be laced with negativities like "haters", "heroes", "crime", "no comprehension skills" etc. As another poster above noted, I am direct but I've never personally called you names. Other than 1 or 2 trolls the rest of the responses above seem quite measured to me as well. Why the venom?

Yeah I have to agree with above poster. I have worked in part-time jobs during my university stint that paid more than $7 per hour man. My advice to you is to build up some form of credibility first before jumping because right now your career and educational history just doesn't add up and it looks fishy honestly.

I had a short stint in a headhunting firm as well and I think that is the only place that will value your BD and HR skills. With respect to HR generalist positions, I doubt BD will ever come into play.

i was reading Bingle's post with curiosity as well....as in how a Master's degree holder ends up doing $7/hr job.......kinda makes the master degree useless...

(p.s. i am 'only' a diploma holder)..

Hi, I need help with getting into the HR line. I am currently working as in the HR department in one of the MINDEF camps and have worked there roughly for around half a year. Currently, I am handling awards and other miscellaneous matters. However, I think I would not be able to progress and learn much here due to the slow pace in things progressing, thus I would like to switch to a new job doing HR instead.

Would really appreciate if any of the experts here would enlighten me on which HR route are the best to take and typically which or what kind of companies are the best to do HR in? FYI, I graduated just this year from a local uni with a degree in materials engineering, so I am basically starting with almost 0 HR knowledge. Thank you for any comments!

good job making the choice to leave MINDEF and pursue a career in HR. it's all uphill from here though and you would need to try and squeeze your way into a less glamorous HR job in a less glamorous company for now and work your way up from there considering you have nothing to offer on the table.

The more curious part is when Bingle say he go 4 years sabbatical. I thought sabbaticals are mostly shorter than 2 years, unless he is just using the word loosely to describe unwilling or unable to work generally.

i can't imagine myself having a break from work for more than a month.....4 years of break is kinda extreme....my definition of break and holidays is for us to rejuvenate so that we can work harder...but obviously some will disagree with me

but alas, i digress....let's get this thread back to topic

If unemployed due to family commitment, retrenched, sickness or even serving jail time just be upfront (online is anoynomous anyway), no need to cover up by saying you went sabbatical for 4 years.

It just make people suspect you are hiding something or a slacker living on your parents.
