What will be my possible next steps to move the career ladder? My job scope is not the usual HRIS / Ops kind of role. But more on projects like system deployment at new entities, region wide system roll out etc, global reporting automation...
Wanted to move to HR analytics, doing strategic prediction, data analysis, retention strategy etc.
Is it a good move? Or should I be better off to do C&B or rewards? What kind of salary can I expect? I am looking to hit around 8k in the next 3 years, possible?
Thanks a lot!

Hi, I'm working as an HR executive at a local SME that does staffing for engineering and O&G firms. My role is a generalist position that involves payroll processing, leave management, invoicing clients, work pass application and generally being the first point of contact for the employees. In addition I also handle office admin work.
I have just started working full time recently. I was unemployed for 4 years, before finally getting a part time position as an office admin that paid $7 an hour. After working there for 8 months i got my first full time job as an HR exec with a pay of $1800. I worked there only for 2 months before finding my current job with a pay of $2200. While pay was one of the main reasons for leaving after only 2 months, I was also interested in changing the industry i was working in. I have now worked here for 3 months and I plan to stick on till I complete one year.
I would like to know how to get a break into an MNC and what are the kind of HR positions I could try for. I want to earn a decent salary of around 4000 within the next 1-2 years. My personal favorite is L&D, but i have no experience in that area. However I'm open to other HR positions also.
Would appreciate advise from the forummers here. Thanks in advance.

Let me get this straight - You have <1 year of proper full time experience doing basic administration in 2 SMEs after being unemployed for 4 years and you are want an MNC to hire you as a L&D specialist and double your pay in 1-2 years?
I think you better thank your stars that a SME is willing to even hire you as you are now.

Wow! What a bunch of haters. I don't think that looking for an MNC job or an average salary is such a crime. So I don't have MNC experience? Duh!!! Thats why i was asking for suggestions in how to get a break into an MNC. Yes, I don't have L&D experience, so I never said that i'll only do L&D work at an MNC. And no i'm not looking for a job as an HR partner or VP. I am looking for an entry level position at an MNC.
I am open to all suggestions from well meaning forummers. Hovewer if you don't have anything positive to contribute like the two heroes above, do refrain from wasting bandwidth on this forum.

I don't think resorting to knee jerk personal attacks and playing the persecution card on any comment that does not meet your prescribed positive world view will help you to get anywhere.
Some forumers might have been too direct, but I too agree in essense with what they are saying. After a long stint of being jobless and only a few months of proper admin experience in small companies, you really should concentrate more on focusing hard on the current job and acquiring some useful experience before thinking about hopping again with unrealistic expectations of doubling your salary in a MNC.
My gut sense is even if you can somehow get yourself into an entry generalist admin job in a MNC over the next few years, I doubt they will offer you anywhere close to your expectations, it is simply too high. 4k is usually a generalist assistant manager position that requires about 5 years of relevant experience.
The kind of career trajectory that you are positioning yourself is difficult even for fresh local uni grad with strong honours and CCA to pull off, much less coming from a position of weakness with a patchy employment record.

first ft job run off after 2 months, 3 months into 2nd job again plotting to run off, somemore must be mnc with big pay hike. likely got attitude problem one. i pity the current co., took a big risk hiring someone with bad history, give him $400 more and 3 months later he already asking others to "teach" him how to jump to his next job

u shld try to stay & learn something in each of ur job instead of thinking of how to jump all the time. people who dun have good background or qualification slowly and steady work your way up still can get there at the end.
admin is back office job, so cannot expect too much in terms of pay increase. jump from 1.8k to 4k pay in 1-2 years for frontline job like sales & marketing is possible, but doing admin i really nvr hear b4. u should consider changing to sales / biz dev if fast $$$ is what u want
my 2c.

My g/f just join a UK MNC as a hr generalist on 2.5k and she has 2+ years relevant exp before that. She told me base on her exp and interview the pay is about the same for SME or MNC for admin work, but MNC benefits better thats all.
