Diff b/w specialist and generalist big, but among the different specialist is about the same. Maybe BP & CB slightly better.

Anybody know how much is a junior HR Biz Partner covering Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia paid in Ericsson? My sister working there and I always wonder how come she can spend so much every month doing HR. After reading here seems like a Biz Partner is paid much higher than I thought.

Depends on exact responsibilities and exp. For this sort of sub region BP if individual role with no people management should be ard 10-15k for most global MNC. If ur sis is something like a dept lead for all 3 countries BP with a sizable team, then my best guess is 18-24k basic.

u mean agency or headhunter? if agency is just telemarketer, try a few months if not suitable just quit.

hi,

will like to ask for advice.

currently im employed in IT industry for 1 year contract.

now that they are converting me to perm with an increment of $200 from a fresh grad pay.

should I take up the offer? or should I nego higher?

Hi, I am a business student from Temasek poly, current cumulative GPA is 3.85. I am interested in pursuing HR as a career line. I will be doing my degree in a local uni.

1) Would my choice for my poly internship make a difference in the future? Any suggestions as to where I could do my internship? (3 months)

2) Between SMU/NUS/NTU, I am thinking of SMU Biz and NUS BBA. Any thoughts on which would be a better choice in terms of HR?

I would like to go into HR BP/C&B in the future, not immediately after graduating of course. I just like to have a path mapped out before I venture into things. Any thoughts on how I could end up in specialist HR roles?

1. As in do an internship in a Poly? I would personally recommend an internship either with a branded firm in an industry that you are interested in, or in any other recognizable firm at the very least, but be sure to leave good impression and gain good contacts there.

2. I just have one question, why not NTU Biz with a specialization in Human Resource Consulting considering you are already quite sure of your career path? 3 years degree would mean you are 1 year ahead of the pack.

It is good that you are realistic in your expectation to not expect to be a specialist on your first job. However, I must comment that your goal of having a career mapped out before leaving school is not feasible. At the end of the day, C&B and BP are arguably the most competitive functions due to their very high pay and promotion prospects.

The competition will be stiff and it is really hard to map out something like that. For all you know, after a few years doing ops stuff you might want to pursue other functions which have a higher probability of success. All I can say is keep your goal in mind as you go through the first 7-10 years of formative experience, but also keep yourself flexible and not be too hung up about “career paths”.

As for which of the 3 local unis to go, I personally feel there is really no difference at all since HR is mostly a soft subject. In fact, Finance is probably closer to C&B than any HR degree. Anyway what you will learn in uni is just generic clap trap, go through motion and get your degree and move on. The important thing is to get your GPA/CAP score as high as possible. This is not guarantee to anything, but at least it’s one more tool for you to compete effectively.
