Yes, you can make the switch. Just apply for the SEN Officer role and go for the interview. But think carefully first before you make the switch. The $$ is a significant decrease. No connect plan, and pay range is lesser. The work is also not necessarily simpler. You may be managing lesser students compared to the teacher in the classroom but the students you manage as a SEN Officer are those with the highest needs. And most of the time, you are the only 1 or 2 SEN Officer in the school. Unfortunately most schools are still not inclusive in nature so a lot of SEN-related work and students will be thrown to the SEN Officer to handle alone.

Easy to switch away from EO scheme. Ridiculously difficult to come back to EO scheme, if you later desire it. Under prevailing conditions (where MOE is reducing EO headcount), it's like a one-way ticket. Maybe it will be different in the future, maybe not.

Not advisable. Teachers complain a lot about their lives in sch like pple on this forum. But SEN Officers have it worst. Paid peanuts, no incentives, and treated like crap by some SLs and second class citizens by teachers. Teachers are just eager to throw the sen kid to you and don’t do their job.

Does anybody know what the percentage increments usually are for promotions? I.e from GEO 3 to 4.
Thank you in advanced for sharing!

Other than hearing from SL, any other way to know if promoted? Not in sch anymore

If made known, you think our scholars would have attained whatever positions they are in now?

Doing the work that leads to such networking takes a lot of time.
To present a paper, you need to spend time to plan, design, conduct action research, and then write a conference paper.
All these things take time.

Advise against this. Steep paycut, and lack of career prospects.
How high can AEDs climb?
Also, AED scheme lacks job security. Still remember how they shut down the AED(T&L) scheme and the methods used to force AEDs to leave.
Maybe can consider going to guidance branch and do SEN-related work to get a feel first.
