Pls cite evidence for your ‘cutting headcount by 400’

Cutting 400 EOs is the equivalent of closing 4 schools annually.
Career progression is slowly than ever, and workload will just keep increasing.
People who left are not replaced, and those lowest on the pecking order will take over the duties of those who left with no end in sight.
Join CS is much better. Working hours will probably be as long, but the pay will be 2-3 times higher. Further can keep your personal life, don't have to continue maintain image outside of school.

Can find the number/estab of total EOs from MOF budget 2023 estimate of expenditures.
Have been cutting headcounts since a few years ago. Nothing new.

Same as SH. Personal experience: easier to go SH and switch to ST. ST needs ard 3-4 years for building up your portfolio. The quota for ST may be converted to SH. Spent 5 years building portfolio. Did AST sharing even. At the end, they asked me to wait. SH roles will need to be filled up first. Then an opportunity for SH opened. I asked, and was given immediately. The route to ST is fraught with uncertainty. My colleagues secured SH and the switched to ST. An easier way.

This means that by the time you retire, the max you can go is SEO 1 level.
Unless you get appointed as a HOD, the jump from GEO 5 to SEO 1 may be quite slow because you are expected to end your career at SEO 1.
Some SHs I know are stuck at GEO 5 for more than 10 years before reaching the max SEO1 level.

Agreed. But most schools would most probably raise the CEP for SH, especially when the SLs know that there will be changes. It’s just one closed form. Easily done within a year. Most SH will get CEP capped at SEO 2. Having said that, it is really your school, SLs and how one performs at GEO 5. Some career SHs delegate too much and will be stuck forever. At SH level, they should help build a positive culture in the department/ committee. If they choose to follow their HODs, then it’s hard to get promoted. There are a lot of other factors that will take too long a post to explain. If you are not happy with the progression, consider switching schools to see if you can move more quickly.

Oh that's interesting that SHs are mostly capped at Seo2! I guess it'd partly luck and opportunity that enables an SH to be able to rise to his max level.

SHs are capped at SEO1. That is to say, if someone remains as an SH, they will not qualify to be promoted above SEO1.
