Yes definitely. Govt job, all have cpf. Even when I was working as a temp relief teacher ten years ago earning 60bucks a day, there was cpf deductions from my pay and employer also contributes.

Leave during term time
Hello! I was just wondering if anyone knows about the possibility of getting leave during term time? The leave is not like parental or child care or MC but just personal matter - like catching olympics for example. Do you think the leave will get approved?

Generally frowned upon. Because during term time they have to find a cover teacher, if not your 4-5 class will have no teachers. Your colleagues won't like it too.
For ordinary teachers, they have a duty to their students. So only compassionate leave, ns leave, maternity leave, childcare leave take precedence.
That being said, if you are representing Singapore at Olympics, not only you can take leave, even during term time, there will be reduced class load and your principal may grant you permission to leave early for training.
If you win, you may quit ur job.

It's never too late to go for your calling!
I have seen many passionate mid-career switchers who joined the service at their late forties. It's about having an open mind and 'young' heart Also, during the PGDE programme, being older and experienced brings valuable perspectives that can value add the learning of others.

Hi
For those of you who are inside.. is it true that there is extremely low demand for new teachers this year onward?
Means it will be much harder to make mid career switch to teaching too ya.

I'd imagine so. Schools merging; JC teachers redeployed to teach Sec; Sec teachers redeployed to teach Pri… seems likely there'll be a surplus.
