as my ex teacher in secondary once said, teachers (at least the non-scholars) are losers in life with no other choices

A well paid loser is still winner!
Teaching is still a very respectable job in Singapore, and relatively hard to get in, and quite good pay.

SH/LH is NOT a even a GEO5 responsibility, that’s why we are given responsibility allowance (RA) every year for taking on leadership role at a GEO level.
Get your facts right

Background story: a few years ago when I was still a NUS undergrad, I asked about the starting salary of new teachers. Thankfully some people posted their replies, so I had a better idea in my financial planning and stuff like that. So I hope to pay it forward for undergrads who are interested in teaching by stating my salary here.
Graduated in June 2015 from NUS, 1st class
June 2015: GEO 2 (Untrained), 3.9k (coincided with salary increments for all MOE teachers)
August 2016: GEO 2, 4.1k (completion of NIE PGDE)
June 2017: GEO 2, 4.3k (confirmation and merit increment due to performance bonus of C)
Oct 2017: GEO 3, 4.8k (promotion to GEO3 - ALL males who have served NS will be promoted to the next scale after a year; it's consistent across the civil service)

Hi, need you guys to help advise..
I have a BA and a Masters degree in public admin...been working for 20 years...both govern/private sector..
Am planning to teach and if selected to attend PGDE at NIE.
I understand we will get paid while at NIE.
Does anyone know how much we will get paid
- during the 6 months attachment phase before NIE?
- and during NIE?
Cheers,

Does anyone know what qualifications one need to have to be a Discipline Master (DM) at schools?
Do you have to be a teacher to be a DM?

Thank you for the very helpful information..
Like to check with you...
- Was your Bachelors degree related to education? It must be, else why PGDE?
- During NIE, you were paid a salary of ? Between $3.9K and $4.1K?
- Was it tough studying PDGE? Did you get to decide what subject to specialise in?
- PDGE has Physical Ed as speciality I am planning to do humanities and PE...
Whats your advice for me if I am planning to teach social sciences and PE?
