there are statistics of the headcount published out there for the last 10 years or so

overall from the peak till now cut about 6000-7000 staff - everyone knows they saved quite a hefty sum from that already

increase back by just 1000-2000 possible??

Check out these numbers. Already cut 7000 at the end of 2019. Since COVID hit, the numbers probably went down even further. I really can't imagine what the future will be like.

A lot of schools are desperately looking for flexi and relief. And these flexi and relief also need to take on additional CCA roles, and even FT roles.

not worth being a FAJT or CAJT for some subjects unless one is desperate for $$$ and if one value their mental health

Doctors in private practice need to cut down on the time spent treating patients to do administrative work like procurement, HR, taxes and billing, right?

By the same logic, GEO2 to SEO2/3 also teach students what.
How many here are talking about becoming VPs and Ps? Mostly talking about geo5 and getting sh, hod positions right? Still teaching in the classroom right?

Pretty sure to get the saf scholarship, to clear the interview panel, they would be talking about their passion to defend the country, like how potential-teachers talked about their passion to educate the next gen during the teaching interview.

Taken from MOE budget estimate, from MOF's 2023 budget estimate page.

EO estab:

Actual FY2021: 32,852
Estimated FY2022: 32,415
Revised FY2022: 32,154
Estimated FY2023: 31,842

In 2022, the estimated headcount is lower than the actual 2021 headcount, means they planned to cut headcount, and the revised 2022 headcount is even lower, which means that they have cut more headcount than they had originally expected.

But this cut is not over yet. Looking at how the estimated 2023 headcount is still lower than the 2022 headcount, it just means that more cuts are on the way.

Given how the top management is hell-bent on cutting EO headcount, don't think 2024 will be any better.

Agreed that should cut more teachers headcounts to not waste tax payers money. Nowadays with low birth rates and so much digital tools that can facilitate own self learning. There is no need for so much teachers.

How can I flourish as an ST? How to get started even? Is there a minimum number of years of service you must hit before being starting your ST-ship? The two STs in my school are from different department and not very friendly so I don't want to ask them. TIA
non-teacher here, what is ST?

Yah these people talk about their passion to defend the country, but we all know just like teachers it's just all talk no substance. Say anything just to get that SAF or moe scholarship ☺️

from my understanding headcount like funding to some extent is tied to a certain formula / ratio which is per head.
so unfortunately yes headcount will go down. we have been told to prepare for more cuts . i number of students will continue to fall .

Hi all, GEO3 here seriously thinking of taking on part time load here...

Seeking advice on how the percentage (70%, 75%) is calculated, and if we need to provide a good reason for it, and also how early on we need to inform our RO.

Thank you.
