1 billion dollar industry just for tuition sector alone. There are plenty of teaching related jobs out there. MOE is not the only education provider.

I guess working at a tuition centre doesn’t pay as well as moe teacher, unless you are talking about the top 5% of superstar tutors of course. Does tuition centre pay 13th month, PB, and other bonuses?

If you worked the same number of hours as MOE expects you to work in a school (including work taken home, which is unavoidable), but in tuition, you'd be swimming in money.
Lots of ex- MOE teachers jump to the private sector not for an increase in income, but for a more reasonable workload and greater employer respect for work-life boundaries.

Superstar tutors make hundreds of thousands annually, a few times that of Ps' salary.
A private tutor who works just 30h a week, charging a lousy $50/h, can expect to take home $6k a month, which is very very decent.
What does a 30h week look like? 2 X 2h on weekdays, and 5h on weekends.
Every day just need to teach 2-3 students, mark the work of 2-3 students.
If you are someone who is driven and wants to earn more money, by taking more tuition assignments, or taking more classes or larger classes, can easily make 5-digit salaries per month. Can earn even more if charge market rate for moe-trained teachers.
In terms of total pay package, easily equals or beats MOE salary.

Heard chio tutors even better, on top of tution for the kids, provide extra bird bird pampering service for the kid father to help fullfil their fantasy. Each session $500.
Easily 5 digit per month by providing dual services!

You didn't include things like pre lesson prep, travel time on your calculations of the tutor working hours there.

Has anyone applied for PGS/PGA and accepted it before?
Am in my 7th year of service and recently got offered the PGA to study local masters. Full school fees and half pay. Was more keen on PGS as it has full pay and mandatory HQ posting.
For PGA, candidates will be centrally deployed to schools after their studies.
Keen to hear the pros and cons of going for studies. Will going for PGA potentially help in career progression? Or should I continue to work? I have a second mind to try for open posting to HQ as well... but of course posting is not guaranteed.
In a dilemma right now whether to accept since it's potentially a pay cut but won't mind if it can help in future career progression. Then it will just be a temporal one...
Reasons for going for studies: good break away from teaching to learn something new, hopefully more work-life balance since it's full time studies. Currently have a young child and hope to spend more time with her.
hope to get some advice. Need to make a decision by next week :O

You left out some critical points, for the majority of private tutors who are not "superstar" tutors.
6k per month is not every month, you typically do not get paid on the months of Dec when lessons whine down, as well as the initial few months of the year, when school term just began and its harder to find students.
Teachers are also paid an average of 15 months a year, 12 months + 1 AWS + 1 13month + 1 month PB.
Putting in the traveling time to various homes, let's just say that, while you can be contented with a private tutor's pay, it is not really that much better.
