On the other hand, this definitely leads to increased workload, without a corresponding increase in manpower. The solution (for now) seems to have been increasing salaries; but it seems clear that won't work as a long-term solution. Hope they're working on improving conditions over in the ministry… (beyond implementing chat bots)

Agree with this fully - it’s the inadvertent nature of things
In fact, it may be worthwhile to teach children about basic laws too, alongside civic lessons

Yah. Seconded out to another ministry and never worked so little in my life compared to school/ MOE HQ. Left service and tempo also same as secondment. Teacher life is really unsustainable but for that, I truly respect those who stay on.

Care to share which ministry?
I'm also a GEO 3 and I find it nowadays it takes ages to promote to the next level and doing so many things. My PB all along also quite good but just that promotion takes so long. Sigh.

Is it better to stay at GEO 3 and get B or promote to GEO 4 and get C+ with heavier workload?

There is a big jump in the salary ceiling when you go from GEO 3 to 4. There is really no good reason to hentak kaki at GEO 3 (if you had the choice). You can't even take up higher appointment at 3.

Do Teachers get holiday subsidies as they only can travel during the travel hike period where air ticket and hotels are more expensive?
Is mobile expenses also covered? Used up alot of call time to talk parents about those funny stuff their kids did in school.
