Obviously not, even if they can get to 5.5k, that's approximately 80k on a 15 month pay package

I am a Second Lower Science grad, and I would like to join teaching. Can I ask what is the expected salary as I have to support my family.

My bachelor and Masters degrees are from Oz Uni (distance learning). Should I even try applying to be a MOE teacher (mid career)? Do MOE even consider candidates not from local u?

I wrote in once last year but did not hear from MOE at all. I don't mind teaching primary schools kids

Distance learning is not considered degree.

Congrats ! May I ask for what role and which window did you apply in? Also what did they ask you during the interview? Anything to share?

Would taking a Masters of Arts (Education) from NIE make a difference?

justsharing 24-10-2015 12:54 PM

male singaporean, 28years old.
about 3.5 years in the teaching profession.
direct NIE intake after A levels. obtained a 2nd class upper. now earning 5090 (after the recent 4% increment). average performer.
i expect future increments/promotions to be of a slower rate, but i'm very much satisfied with what i'm earning :)

if you have a passion for teaching, join us! you wont get filthy rich like the bankers and lawyers, but you'll definitely get to build a comfortable life. i find it meaningful and fulfilling to be able to reach out to students and try to make a (positive) difference in their lives. cheers!
