Most teachers do their dutifully even if there are a lot to handle. It is rewarding when we see the results in our students. But it can be upsetting when not every teacher works hard together. There is perceived unfair work distribution when compared to some KPs. Maybe some KPs can really manage their time well, coffee breaks, KLKK, go home at 3pm with no bags of marking or laptop. The normal teachers are still slapped with Assistant Oral duties until past 5pm.

To add on, many of the projects proposed and implemented by KPs can be seen being tanked and executed by the normal teachers (while this ironically boosts their portfolios and KPIs when they only "assign work").

Does this happen in other schools too?
Then I guess you know way too few KPs to be able to come to such conclusion

Isn't oral duty for everyone? At least that is the case in my school. KP or not, everyone is involved. & KPs still have to plan for the upcoming changes to PSLE oral due to the pandemic. Stop whining. It just reflects badly on yourself. AOE duty also want to complain.

In my school, 18 teachers were assigned oral duty for this period.

Depends on where your starting salary was at in the first place (Honours, NS) and how long you've been at GEO 4 (a first year GEO 4 SH would earn less than a 4th year GEO 4 SH).
A more generous range would be between 6k - 7k.

If I remember correctly, there was a change in what was offered as a starting salary from a couple of years ago. If you signed the Teacher Training Agreement in 2008, the starting salary for a male, FCH teacher was 4.1k. It was 3.8k in 2013.

Just to chip in too. I think every teacher will be assigned different duties throughout the year. I can honestly say that it's really hard to ensure equal workload among all teachers (for absolute fairness). Kinda impossible. Exam duties are still manageable tbh.

Maybe to put forth a more balanced argument...I have worked with enough KPs to see that there are many who do not show good examples of themselves in terms of being a leader.

Example? One of my colleagues was threatened just for providing simple feedback during a school wide meeting (to help and streamline certain workflow processes) by his RO. That KP saw it as creating trouble for all school staff.

More examples?

"I old already...You're younger so you should do it"

"I dunno anything about technology...Can you do it instead"

"This task is to groom you to help your career progression" (don't even know if this will materialise)

Not that we don't wish to help or learn. But the above really sounds like excuses to me. If they really feel so old or poorly skilled, shouldn't they just get out of their position and let others take it instead?

However I have also met A FEW who are really competent and are willing to guide or even work together with you towards a common goal. For these KPs, they impressed me enough for me to work hard under them, and even FOR them.

Example? I had one that prepares and gives instructions for work in advance, and periodically checks in if people under him need help. He listens to feedback and is willing to try out new ideas. Unlike some who throw work last minute without guidance and any mistake made, that poor particular teacher is held accountable.

I think MOE really need to relook at how they treat teachers.

Train teachers in mental health counselling? Nani??? Why not hire someone with a Masters in Counselling or someone who is actually a professional in mental health?

Let teachers be teachers.

Is the counselling training for selected teachers or all teachers?
