Hi, anyone with experience on the ranking panel can shed light on this: is there a bell curve for A, B, C+, C and so on for every GEO ranked? i.e. there must be someone getting an A from that particular GEO and some getting B and so on? are the numbers of A and Bs etc definitely lower than the number of C+, C and C-? Tks!

Without gg into too much details.

Bell curve is practised when there are a considerable number of pple ranked in that sub grade.

Think of it as you are in a class. A normal size class will follow bell curve. A class that is too small can have exceptions.

No matter what, performance of an officer is cross referenced on the KRA set for each sub grade. There are certain standards to be met when awarding a grade, regardless of good or not so good grades.

Depends. Generally, if you enter HQ as a GEO4, you will return to schools as a KP. In that case, you maybe promoted to GEO5 faster as you have a bigger job scope.

Personally know of someone from HQ, went In geo 4... come out still geo 4 for 2 years despite taking on appointed HOD role. And getting at least B.

Not sure if the officer will be promoted this April

Are you talking about yourself?

Like someone said, if it’s a bad grade, your RO would have informed you beforehand.

If it’s just not satisfied with the grade, this barging and explicit thinking of taking NPL is not gg to help.

I already said a colleague. Why must you read so much into it?!
I’m satisfied with what I get.
It’s just that I’m hearing abt others who are appealing and i’m not sure if there’s a process in place and whether pple r successful in their appeals.

Heya all. GEO 3 here, diploma holder. Been getting Cs and only one B since I entered the service 10 years ago. Been in the same school since NIE as well. A GEO 3 since October 2015.

Just wondering what are my chances of getting promoted to GEO 4 this year.

Is my credential as a diploma holder holding me back from a promotion?

Or could it be the Cs I've been getting?

I really feel like I've given my all in teaching. Just that my school's been pushing for me to take up more responsibilities, but I have laissez faire attitude towards that due to my 'peanuts' pay as a diploma holder. 10th year connect plan is coming up at the end of this year. Might cash it in and just leave the service as I feel the burnout taking over me. Or apply for posting and see whether things change. Haven't made up my mind yet.

Hard to say why. The promotions have slowed down quite a lot in recent years due to an excess of teachers in service.
HR is also regulating the numbers. So it could also due to this reason.

As a dip grad, there is some disadvantages, and slower promotion. But Even a degree holder may not cross geo 3 to 4 within 5 years.

But if you quit, what are your options outside?

Performance Grade

Is it your performance grade will be default C after the year you are promoted?

It depends.

I think it is more of a guideline than a HR directive that all schools must abide by.

I know of instances where the promoted person still held a C+ or B. These people are usually GEO scale KPs. If you think about it, it isn't fair for a newly promoted GEO4/5 to be given the default C by their school, since they are likely still going to do and contribute more than others of the same grade, by virtue of their appointment.

But if you have no key appointments in school, then your "default" is likely to be C.
