Haven't tried, but I suppose it will be difficult to have a successful appeal.
I guess SLs will have their way to justify and wriggle their way out.

It used to be guaranteed as long as you don't screw up and get C- or below. That's why it was called a "cohort promotion". The NSmen would get it immediately (the nearest Oct or Apr) after confirmation, while the non-NSmen and the ladies would get it in the subsequent cycle.
Nowadays it seems like the promotion is no longer a fixed interval after confirmation, but some other mechanisms (probably performance and competency related) are at play.

Just got the good news for this year.
Geo4 to 5 = 4 years
Geo5 to SEO1 = 3.years
Means I will hit SEO2 in 2027? I hope lol

Cohort promotion GEO2 to 3 is also no longer solely based on time norms, i.e. not automatic after a certain time. Other factors also determine promotion readiness, just like for the higher subgrades.
It sucks but welcome to MOE. The horror stories of being stuck at GEO3 or GEO4 for 8 years are real. Not incredibly common (the silent majority get their promotions faster, so you only see the complainers on this thread), but very real.

Please lah… some pple take almost 17 years to get GEO5… and still slogging their hearts out…

5A isnt the max for a standard teacher. 5 is.
Only a small percentage of HOTs sill get the bump up to 5A.

Some people don’t even get there. They cap at GEO4. The most jialat I see before is cap at GEO3 .
