There are people who are less popular, their class don’t empty dustbin they get flagged for it. Whereas the more popular ones shout at students they still get defended.

At the end if the day, its about social currency. You mean to say these EOs who are not popular are in those situations purely due to being victims? They dont know how to play the game.

Comments like this make me question the ethos and integrity of the person behind them. I genuinely hope they are not a teacher.

Are you new to this service? Teachers teach moral values during CCE but at the end of the day, the successful ones are the people that get it. Honesty, ethos and integrity are thrown out of the window as they try to ascend the ladder. Name me a HOD that gets to where they are by being JUST competent. there are other facets needed to outwit everyone else. I am very sure every teacher, who has seen political moves in the staff room , agrees with my statements.

Seriously, the faster you get this, the longer you survive in MOE

My goodness, I hope one day you are not the teacher of my child to teach this sort of warped values. So are you suggesting students at promotion retention meeting who have more social currency can be promoted over someone who did equally badly but not as endearing? Whatever happened to fairness, equity and justice?

I’m disgusted.

Teachers are a bunch of hypocrites. Year end, enjoy holidays. one to two weeks travel . post instagram etc.

Happy life easy job.

Next year fight for promotion. Who will give a damn about students.

Would like to take half a year off next year from June hols onwards to really recharge as I have been severely burnt out due to the increased load in the past 2 years. I'm not sure what are the general reasons people take NPL, but I'm really hoping to be able to take an extend break before continuing. If not, I might consider leaving the force as I think it's really unsustainble for my mental health. I genuinely still do love teaching and hope that I can continue after taking a long break. Has anyone tried this before and what are your results?
NPL is usually given when there are other underlying reasons. Burnt out unfortunately is not really one of them.

That's why you see officers resigning after their bonds as they are burnt out.

totally agreed with this sentiment from a previous post: "Name me a HOD that gets to where they are by being JUST competent."

after all, the staff room in the school is just another workplace. Or else, you could have scored better in your A-level at 18 years old to score a government scholarship to hasten the process of securing a leadership / management position.
