Read through the past few pages, and I must say that some posts reflected how toxic a work place can be, and how scary it is to act base on hearsay.
1. Number of days of mc: if you are ill, just take. There is no such thing as an ideal number of mc per term. Of course, if you are frequently ill, you should recognise that it will burden others to take your class and students’ learning will be affected. As an adult, I am sure that you can recognise a gengster at work and those who are genuinely ill.
2. Staying back till late to ensure that you don’t get marked, and to get a better perf grade. My advice- get a life. I’ve always make it a point to leave work early whenever I can. At times, I take work home to do. I have been getting more than C for years. If you get your work done and you do it well, people can see. Some jialiaobee stay till late daily only to watch shows while marking at small speed. Do you think such people will be ranked well?
3. Seniority/ duration in the sub grade vs perf grade- there is no link. It is all based on outcomes and impact. Of course, don’t go around stepping in people’s foot, especially the KPs which form the ranking panel. With all that said, make sure your bread and butter, T&L, is good. Else, no matter how many sai gang you take up, it is hard to justify a more than average grade.
4. Interview getting harder? No. But the panel might give different result and experience, particularly the Supt.
5. SL-ship? Wait long long. Nowadays, the supply >>> demand. Of course having exposure to IP, non-IP, HQ and different schools put one in a better position to assume greater responsibilities, but it is not a given. You need the stars to align, and need a garang P who is willing to lend you a helping hand.

Dont complain so much. You want go home as early as possible means you are not commited enough.
People stay to work till late meaning there is work to be done. Not just purposely stay to waste time
Work never finish. Work as what you perceive is right amount of overtime spent. You all adults please.

Higher chance than non-MMs, but also not to be taken for granted. They have more possible platforms to get a better perf grade, because their normal MM job scope gives them more opportunities to make wider and deeper impact. But, there is also a possibility that they underperform, or, there are many high performing MMs at the same subgrade and if they are ranked lower they might still get C+ or C.

MOM website says i can choose which date to start the 2 week mandatory leave. But if my RO already phrased it like that, i feel like i might upset her if i decide on my own schedule.

Really hope your paternity leave starts tmrw, instead of the start of Sept hols. The RO can pressure you or instill fear, but remember its your right. SLs also will be careful not to use this paternity leave to shortchange you during ranking, due to the increased emphasis on fathers taking a more proactive role in caring for newborn.

As someone who has been on the ranking panel, such leaves will have to be taken into consideration. It may not be stated as such, but i have seen SLs try to justify average rankings using other reasons instead.
And i fully support it. I mean imagine being away for weeks and months and expecting to be appraised just as good as officers who had to put in the extra shift to cover grounds. Its fair. Performance bonuses are to reward those who go the extra mile.

Reading through past few posts, i cant believe how willing officers are just to get a few grand worth of bonuses. You mean to say you are willing to come to work sick, have unhealthy work hour boundaries just so that you can stand a chance to be given 1000-3000 more in bonuses? (Assuming average salary of 6k).. i believe you have a life outside the small cubicle you work in. And frankly speaking, you could have put in those extra effort giving tuition while earning much higher guaranteed sums of money.
Not so smart eh.
Im a veteran teacher and i always say this to my juniors. People have an unhealthy mindset in this sector. Why are we constantly being reminded that teaching is a calling? Its a profession just like everything else. You get paid for what you put in. Dont go beyond what you are meant to do, it will lead to burnout. Most capable and efficient teachers i know have already left the service

Wow,
Teachers only care about salary. No wonder the attitude and work ethics so bad nowadays. 6k salary is low? How many people get this pay? Teachers have high salary no doubt.
Unwilling to work beyond working hours means not fully commited to such job. Just milk the MOE as much as possible.
Every year go holidays and have paid school holidays. Best of the world.
