Default teachers rich

Most teachers have cars and go travel at least once every year.

Who say they are poor?

they buy share or not also dont know. Buy share no need a lot of capital.

some school practice student price and non student price. so how does that benefit student.

Wait till you hear how many weeks of holidays an international school teacher gets IN SINGAPORE, without having to come back during holidays AT ALL because no one would be around.

Agree on Point 2. It was a ticking time bomb and really unfortunate that MOE took soooo long to adopt a firm stand. To me this is a reflection of how much the Senior Management is detached from the ground. Pre-Covid, just ask any neighbour school teachers about vaping, and they know how prevalent it was. Even the JC kids are into it pre 2019.

For Point 3, you need to first understand that the PLD adoption was 'fast-tracked' many years ahead in order to support HBL, hence there'll be inevitable misses. having said that, it has been almost 3 years since the rollout of PLDs, and it is not unreasonable to expect concrete policies and measures to be roll out to tackle the various issues, which they still struggle with.

Based on your 3 examples, i support your primary thesis that the policy makers are detached from the ground and lacks sch experience. However, they do refer to other data sets available and accessible to them. Ideally, teachers' voice should be central in their policy crafting, but i guess there are other 'important' considerations too.
As someone who has worked in hq and am close to senior bureaucrats, ie my personal friends, i can assure you that the very top is not disconnected. sg is physically small, ppl know one another, issues are surfaced. and they are not dumb to be able to connect them together.

read the papers widely jot issues down n put urself in shoes of policymakers. the considerations for ANY decisions are far wider than you think, and thars why this country works unlike many others.
a lot of unhappiness here are on the small things ( not that it collectively doesn’t matter)…

Does that mean that the policy has failed?

The majority benefited from it and a few got addicted.

Some would even postulate that the cyber addiction
and abuse would have happened anyway
because of home computers.

Then what? Ban computers?
Not all families provide unfettered access to computers for their children. Some would set passwords, or physically lock up the computers, and would only let children use the computers under supervision, at least until they are old enough to manage their time responsibly. Even for phones, there are parents who only let their children use prepaid cards, with limited internet data. A phone is pretty useless without the internet access.

Having PLDs for all, removes this level of device usage control.

Not many children have the maturity to use their devices responsibly.

Many grad level jobs pay $7-9k minimally after 10 years. So?

And these are just normal, unglam jobs. Not even talking about hot professional fields like tech, medicine, law
