You basically need to keep applying for higher DX rank posts as a sure fire way to increase the DX rank. Whether you get the post is another matter.

Yes. No mindef HR will not overpromise. They will offer reasonable ranges based on many factors, just dont trust the forum posters too much.

Assuming you are trying to do a mid career transition to public agencies as an assistant director, there are already some push factors in your mind. So, if u factor in the stability for the next 20 -30 years of your working career, recession proof, the choice is a no-brainer. However, whether these public agencies want you or not, is an entirely different situation. A dx rank will be assigned to you based on the estab opening, and if you passed all the interviews you will be deemed as qualified for it. You do not have the option to choose the DX rank.

Have submitted my application in Nov after HR told me that I was selected. However, there isn't any news on my application. Tried to message and emailed the person but no reply at all. Any kind soul can advise me what should I do?

what stage are u at? submitted ur documents or shortlisted for interview, or interviewed already? Based on your reply, i dont see what options u have.

I think it should be at the final stage. Have submitted the docs and all other requirement. HR mentioned that they need to do the clearance before offering the contract.
