Didn’t know they will send not shortlisted these day, last time is like no news

Anyway I already went for PT for previous application, does the two weeks notice stated in the email still count or?

2nd lower, 2 yr exp with NS

Does anyone know what is the pay range for DX9? How much should I put in the expected monthly salary section? I have a second lower degree from NTU, 2 years of related working experience with NS. Thanks in advance!

Hi, does anyone know roughly how much a NUS FCH Male, top student in a FASS major, can expect for starting salary for DXO? Thanks :)

Hi, does anyone know if MINDEF hires graduates from SIT? Been applying but don't even receive email for PT. Thanks in advance

Unregistered 12-11-2019 10:21 PM

Reading all the replies, it seems that after you apply, you'll do a psychometric test first. However, for the life of me, I don't recall applying specifically to Mindef nor did I do any PT related to it. My guess is that somehow my application elsewhere in the public service got re-routed for Mindef's consideration. I received an e-mail to go for a Written Exercise at their HQ, and decided I might as well check it out.

Is this normal? Anyone in the same situation? I have to fill up an application form and I don't even know what to include in the section about the positions that I've applied (if I actually applied anything at all but completely don't remember). I'm just going to put what positions I would be interested in...

No. I didnt. Not sure if no news means still wait or no opportunities.

Applied Executive (HR) - 10 sept
Receive email shortlisted to go PT - 12 sept
PT at cmpb - 3 oct

Then no news till now.. wonder if they are still processing or have been rejected?

What are the motivations for people wanting to join as DXO?

Unregistered 13-11-2019 11:18 PM

anyone with Ph.D. working as DXO?

Hello, I have a first class hons equivalent bachelors degree, a masters degree, and Ph.D in Psychology (all from the U.S. at good research universities), I have about 7 years experience running grant-funded research in various public universities (basically project manager job).

Any idea (or guesses) as to what starting pay grade would be for DXO applicants like me, and if they would offer me a senior position? I recently got scheduled for PT, and since I have an overseas job now, I'm wondering if this is worth pursuing by returning home for a period of time.

What is your motivations in asking this question?

Or should all soldiers say "to protect the country" or all teachers to say " to inspire the next generation" to fit your agenda? What about those working in Mcdonalds or selling insurance. What are their motivations? A HDB officer, LTA staffer, MOE HR manager. what are their motivations?

To answer you if you are somewhat honestly curious,
DXO is just a job in which a point of time, seem like a logical choice. i dont think anyone grows up and dreams of being a DXO.
A suitable and stable job for those seeking work life balance, job security and somewhat with a purpose of contributing to national security.

Usually if they can't make it in the real world, it's something to fall back on.

How do we answer the question when we get asked if NS is cheapen when such a high number of citizenship are given to foreigners who did not serve NS?

Can I check with any current/previous DXO , will there be an increment upon passing the probation (not yearly increment)?
I heard used to have increment after probation last time, not sure about the practice now. Any kind soul can advise?
Thanks in advance

On hindsight, that depends. Must check with HR. Some people do not.

when did you get to know about your probation increment?
Was it at the point of signing the employment contract or at the end of the probation?

thanks

You can ask at contract signing if you qualify for it. One of my colleagues asked. The others you would just get an email telling you that you passed probation, and you will be entitled the amount.

Source: i have 2 colleagues that experienced the above

Can someone shed light on whether DXOs have CEP? Anyone knows how CEP is determined? Education? School? Honours class?

officially no. (not that i know of, unless someone in HR can confirm)

but within the same community, the bosses will choose who to groom based on their perceived performance. degree class is not an so impt factor once you enter the service(unless you are scholar). they 'assign' a CEP for them to gauge their end point and groom them towards that position for the long term. example, in that community, if the highest DXO post is a DX15, they will need to identify potential people to eventually take over in 15-20 years. its hard to hire off the street if the job is specialised to mindef operations.

also, DXOs are empowered to job hop within mindef and take a higher position. hence no CEP for DXO as it doesnt make much sense. Some can jump from DX10 to DX12 directly only after 8 years in service and only barely pushing mid-30s. most DXOs will end at DX12, so either he/she is the chosen one, or he/she is lucky with the time and space.

there appears to hve no statement on two weeks notice of the outcome of PT in any email to me from their HR, and it has been three weeks since my PT. So I suppose it is back to no sending of non-shortlisted notification? not impressed with such handling, seriously.

I sent a email to check with their HR but they only reply me that they are in the midst of processing and will update me if there is any

Erm, so i dunno to wait or ..lol
This feel like a trial of patience

Anyway i applied for Manager (Security Management), anyone who applied for that and went for interview already? Then i can give up and move on...lol

DXO website still has Manager (Security Management) listed, so I supposed it is not a goner yet?

As compaired to my application - Manager (Training Management) - it is gone two weeks after my PT. Now THAT is a sure sign of a goner. Time for me to move on...

DXO Application

I’ve submitted my application online in mid Oct and HR emailed me few days later to get me to submit relevant documents, personal particulars form and passport sized photo. I’ve submitted all required by end of Oct. Till now, they have not contacted me. Have emailed to HR 3 times to check and everytime they can only replied that they are still in the midst of processing my application and will update me my application status. My question is am I shortlisted for the position applied, since they have asked for my documents and photo? And I am required to fill up a very detailed personal particulars form, similar to the G50 form. Have been waiting for more than a month. Of course I have been actively looking for other jobs as well. Anyone who has the same situation as me?

Can anyone share the DXO salary scale? Thank u

Unregistered 08-12-2019 08:49 PM

Is there a way to know which DXO works with fellow DXO and not NSFs? Or is it generally DXO role works with NSFs?

you mostly work with other regulars, rather than NSFs.

maybe in some roles, you would have to manage a few NSFs cause they work on projects/work for you. in most other roles, possibly reporting to either a major/ltc/sltc/col/generals.
