I think once you're in this stage, chances of acceptance are significantly improved. But there is always a chance of getting rejected.

Best bet is to secure another opportunity elsewhere as backup. 6-8 weeks offers sometime to do that. You never know.

Is it normal to do g50 right after 1st HR call? Seeing from here it seems to be more common to have it after verbal offer

after G50 clearance is done
assuming u pass
next the hiring dept need to put up submission clearance to the parent ministry's PS b4 they are allowed to formally offer u the position

however, don't assume G50 pass means woon woon jiak mee hoon because skali got spanner thrown into the mix then u LL already

--> speaking from personal experience where clear interview + G50 + PS submission approved only for the hiring side to retract provisional offer

I'm assuming you got a verbal offer already?

Personally, I haven't heard of any who got rejected. If you have a verbal offer, your unit will have a vested interest in seeing you through the process. Nobody wants to do double work and find more people again to hire, right?

But then again, as the other 2 posts earlier explained and shown, there is a non-zero chance for a rejection to still occur. To have a peace of mind, as was already suggested, find a backup offer. At least if they offer less than MINDEF, you can reject them, or vice versa.

Hi, original poster here.

you must remember, MDES is still a soldier, and you must understand what does it mean to be solider. It's a career choice and lifestyle choice and a commitment. fitness is a must if you want to join (BMI, IPPT). dont forget, if want to join as uni grad, you will need to go OCS also and may lead people eventually. Are you up to it? Potentially longer working hours also. if you want to quit if you regret, you can't, as there will be a minimum term of service of a few years. and even if you can quit, I think the notice is 3 months at least.

for DXOs, most positions are staff positions. you can quit anytime with 1 month notice. maybe less 'pressure' as compared to a soldier with work life balance.

you also mentioned some only. mostly for higher rank DXOs and overseas DXOs. its probably less than 5% in the whole DXO population. what point are you trying to make to influence him?
