May I know what are the significant differences between DXO and MDES schemes besides the obvious like IPPT and wearing of uniform? Which is the better to choice assuming having to observe military decorum and what not is a non-issue since already experience during ns and reservist. Assume for someone already completed NS obligations and is an experienced software engineer from the private sector.

if you are asking about scheme, the benefits are more or less similar, i.e annual leave, medical/dental claims, welfare payouts and bonuses.
one main difference is MDES scheme may have additional 'allowance' to recognize expertise in your job function. there are different levels of expertise for MDES, all the requirements are listed out that you can choose to clock/achieve then you will get that allowance. DXO scheme is really just your gross pay and no additional way to increase your pay other than the annual increment and promotion. even if you are the expert, you do not have allowances that recognise your expertise like for MDES, even if you do the exact same job. thats how the DXO scheme was designed back then. pay is determined by your DXO grade/rank only.
one more difference is MDES is a soldier. you may be asked to do duties that a DXO might not have to. you may be forced to go to a posting that you may not like and you have to suck it up cause orders are orders. DXOs also have the flexibility to jump to another job family, i.e go to HR, finance, logistics if they want to try other jobs. most MDES are likely to stay within the same job family.

It depends.
You could be on a blacklist for quitting after a few months.
And they just ignore your application.
The HR mgr job may not be available when you hunt for a job.
Better not resign till you secure a new job offer.
Your current job may be your best option.

Okay thanks for the advice. I shall stay on my current job for the next years or so before trying to apply again 🤔. Hopefully they accept my reasoning this time round.

It depends.
MDES is not for everyone. Retirement at 60.
DXO retirement is currently 63.
If super fit than go the normal combat officer. Retire at 50.

Signing on as Air Force Engineer (Digital Engineer)
Anyone knows how's it like to sign on AFE(Digital Engineer)? Think is new scheme for tech related and not on official website yet but quite similar to signing on with DIS I think? Want to know more about career progression if I were to sign on as degree holder. Any advice is appreciated
