MINDEF DXO (All FAQ on it)

Have been seeing a few posts here about interviews and callbacks. I'm a DXO who joined MINDEF a few months back so I feel like i can give some insights to some of you worrying souls!

Generally the rule of thumb is:

1. If they're interested they will get back to you within a week. If there's no replies in 2 weeks, MOVE ON!

2. The security clearance takes a long time, but the hiring manager will always keep in contact with you (its generally hard for them to find candidates who would wait for 3 months or more due to the security clearance so they're really desperate as well). I know this because my role was vacant for > 1 year as a few people they shortlisted failed the clearance.

3. The salary is attractive for fresh grads, but promotions are slow. Bonuses seem to be < 3 months according to my colleagues.

4. Workload is very manageable most of the times and we almost never OT.

5. Lots of activities outside work: Cohesions on a group/branch level, outings, sports day, courses, etc. These are intangibles that I've come to appreciate as they do inject fun into the mundane worklife.

Some position are ongoing multiple-hire positions. Could be that they’re still hiring other folks for that position/another position in the same branch. it shouldn’t be an indication that you’re no longer considered for the role, anyway

Hi all, I'm new here so I apologize in advance if I'm not using this correctly.

I was fortunate enough to be given an offer some weeks ago for a research position in the army (DXO of course) and was told HR will contact me (I've been in direct contact with the people I will be working with).

May I know what is to come next? When can I expect to start working?

As a fresh graduate, may I know what is the expected pay?


*On a side note, the HR has not reached out, and the entire process has been painfully slow ...

have they ask u to submit info to do admin clearance screening?
the screening part can be time consuming base on past work experience with various govt agencies (mindef inclusive)

Hello! Thanks so much for responding.

Nope, all I got was a text from the interviewer that I've been accepted and was told to wait for HR to contact me.

Oh dear ... I was hoping to start work asap, or at least on December ... my savings are drying up LOL

if they more or less wan to jio u, should have ask u for info submission to clear you administratively

given MINDEF is sensitive institution, thought incoming folks need to be screened or cleared G50 before that?

The official offer should indicate the salary.

Either you are lying or you did not get an official offer.
