Yea I did, but it's just in progress. Are you a fresh grad or mid-career?

many a times, its not like you have a choice anyway since there might only be one position.

Same in a way, postgrad soon. Yes silent, it’s anxiety inducing!

Hi

Anyone been on an overseas posting with MINDEF before? Can share more details about it - selection process, living arrangements, who paid for rental/housing costs, any other benefits? Assuming the overseas posting is 6months-2 years

Read directives if you are in mindef already or just ask HR if you are coming in from outside

1. interview with the unit involved.
2. if single, 2 personnel to share a 2-bedroom apartment. unless you self-top up to stay alone in a one bedroom apt. they will pay half of the ceiling (half the amt when 2 ppl share in 2 bedroom). theres different ceiling amts for different countries. if you have family, amt will be adjusted to your family size. in short, MINDEF will pay. apartments you will likely need to self source in the local area, unless the camp has living facilities.
3. other benefits includes one-time furnishing, winter clothing (if in winter countries) allowances. medical and dental as per in SG. you can get plane tixs to return to SG to visit family, paid by MINDEF. annual leave is the same.
4. you will get extra monthly allowances, amt depends on country.

above is a short summary without revealing too much. gist is there. im sure the admin will brief you more in details.

from what i know, overseas postings rarely stay in camp. even if stay in camp, its not those bunks that we are used to i SG. its a proper apartment with all facilities, i.e. condo like. even better than our HDBs!

Have until July to make a firm decision, so I’ll continue to wait for a bit. Good luck to you in the new role!

Anyone undergoing the dxo interview process?

Finished the written test (late April)
Completed a online panel interview (early May)

HR has told me that there's likely a site preview coming up but given that I'm still based overseas wonder how this can be done?

Unregistered 06-06-2022 02:21 PM

Guys possible to transfer of service from other ministries to Mindef?

Assuming MX12 from MHA transfer to Mindef? Then in Mindef is what designation? Manager?

What abt the salary structure? What I mean is assuming MX12 salary in MHA earning $4200 then find job in Mindef is transfer of service possible? Salary is retained.

Hi, I went for a Zoom interview on 3rd June (Friday) and gotten HR call on 7th June (Tuesday) regarding the recruitment process and was informed to reply the email sent on submitting my payslips and IRAS NOA with other educational documents/transcripts and testimonials.

I also subsequently received an email to submit a G50 security clearance.

I just want to know, does this mean I actually gotten the job? Or they could still reject me after all the submissions?

in short, nothing is firmed until you sign on the contract.

in your case, its just a admin procedure which i did even before my interview. you will likely get the job when HR calls you about your salary package subsequently. Then you will only be pending medical and security clearances.

DXO scheme is more lucrative than Mx scheme to begin with. Likely to have adjustment.

Wouldn't certain people decide that "lucrative = competitive" and hence conclude that there is no need for some schemes e.g. specialist schemes to be adjusted?

Just saying coz it happened before in certain places...

Feels bad seeing all the replies here.

Among all the public service entities, DXO really one of the most jiak liao bee.

Still got people asking for pay raise really nothing to say.

All of us who have been through NS know how boliao the job is. Lunch time 2 hours, pangkang on the dot. Come to work just taiji to other departments. Skillset is just be a yes-man to actual soldiers.

Other public service folks have a tough job and get scolded by the public every day for no reason. MINDEF really just keep taking the budget and justify it for "defence" purposes.

you probably only encountered low level DXOs (i.e DXO equivalent to maybe a 1SG or SSG), due to your job scope/rank. may want to expand your horizons more. Defence is not just weapons and equipment. i guess to you its a zero sum game. Take care :D
